Well, both Lojgloss and jbofi'e assign de to x3, but not for the reason you give (at least in the case of Lojgloss). My algorithm starts filling places of "broda" with the linkargs first, starting at the second place, so first di is assigned x2, then da x1, and then de x3, because it's the next open place. Thus {da fe de broda be di} assigns de to the x2 of broda, where under your interpretation it would be the x3 of broda, being the x2 of {broda be di}. (Jbofi'e once again agrees with Lojgloss.)
