Hm, is that normative? Since Lojban has a six-vowel system, I would have thought that there would be a bit of latitude or room for allophonic variation in the vowels -- for example, to pronounce /o/ as [o] or [O], /a/ as [a] or [A], etc. Cheers, -- Philip Newton To unsubscribe from this list, send mail to lojban-list-request@lojban.org with the subject unsubscribe, or go to http://www.lojban.org/lsg2/, or if you're really stuck, send mail to secretary@lojban.org for help. ----------MB_8CB5D3E0EB07C5C_1318_2B61_WEBMAIL-MA08.sysops.aol.com Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Type: text/html; charset="us-ascii"

Hm, is that normative?

Since Lojban has a six-vowel system, I would have thought that there
would be a bit of latitude or room for allophonic variation in the
vowels -- for example, to pronounce /o/ as [o] or [O], /a/ as [a] or
[A], etc.
