Re: [lojban] XI

2006/7/15, Adam D. Lopresto <adam@pubcrawler.org>:
I was looking for a way to write about chemical formulae, and it appears that
{xi} can't be embedded inside a lerfu string.  Is there a way that should be
legal, is there a reason it's not, or what's up with that?

{xi} can't be embedded inside a lerfu-string. Look at {xi}'s definition.

Since numbers in chemical formulaes are always written in subscript or superscript, you can use cmavo {tau} (of selma'o LAU), or {ga'e} (of selma'o BY) (things you want to subscript) {to'a} (of selma'o BY).

.i la'e me'o .y'y. bu xi re boi .o bu cu djacu

You can say {tau .y'y. bu re tau .obu cu djacu}. It parses.
