Could be. The context for the phrase (out of Wallops #6) is: Religion tries to convince Human goi ko'a that ko'a's the "centre of the universe", a position of some importance. Human proves this to ko'a'self by recognising that all ko'a's knowledge of the universe comes through ko'a's own senses. Religion then gloats to ko'a that ko'a will die. But to translate "centre" as "manri" misses the point, because "a reference plane" is not the position of importance that a "centre" is.
