This may even be reasonable since "me" was Scott Layson's invention rather than JCB's and is not really part of the original language. It's essential nature is to convert an argument into a predicate, and the semantics of such a conversion are something that has to be defined. We have defined and successfully used "me" a lot based on our definition, which is not compatible with using it as an absolute solution to the relative clause problem. It will be interesting to get pc's opinion on this issue when he resurfaces from his summer vacation. I don't know much about Holmes knowledge of logic or of Loglan, but I do know of pc's knowledge. If he should weigh in with an opinion supporting Holmes and TLI's solution, we might rethink "me", though we will still feel our solution to the relative clause problem is superior on the basis of intuitive learnability of the language. My posting to Loglanist List was of course solely in regards to Kennaway's posting of his question to both lists. If it is likely to cause fights with JCB, I can avoid such postings, as I did in sending the "lo" comments to you only. That certainly was not my purpose in responding to Kennaway. I augmented my response to include TLI Loglan translations before posting a copy to your list, though, realizing as I was about to send it that it would make rather little sense to TLI people without such translation. (BTW, I did not join the list immediately - did anyone on your list respond to Kennaway? I'd be curious as to what others came up with.) Hope your Florida property was nowhere near the hurricane zone. You are still welcome to stop through if it suits your schedule, though with the kids around by then, we need some advance notice for planning purposes. If you are out of town for a few weeks, we may not be able to exchange further till I get back from Russia. My expected departure is around the 14th. lojbab
