Anyway...] I was briefly on the Lojban List about 2-3 years ago, but I bailed out because of thesis commitments. I'm about to submit said thesis and I've just rekindled my interest in Lojban. A few of us in my department have started a small Lojban study group. We're hoping to build a small amount of language expertise and then advertise around campus to get other interested people to start a Lojban club. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who is trying or has tried something similar, I'm sure we have a lot to learn. We met today and Mark, one of the members of the group, offered a translation of a piece of text he'd been writing. We hacked at the translation for while and only ended up finishing the first sentence. I've included the sentence below in Lojban with a gloss and English. The parser likes it, but I just wanted more experienced jbotadni thought. Apologies if the gloss doesn't follow convention. le cabdei cu bavna'ake'udei le mu'e le fraso bilni cu gasnu le today is-anniversary-of point-event-(the-french-military causes pu'u la reinbo'uari'or,uon. nafulta kei kei li pano process-(the-"rainbow warrior 1" not-floats)) 10 Today is the 10th anniversary of the sinking of the Rainbow Warrior 1 by the French military. thank you for your patience tim
