I agree that (a) is correct, however (b) is not sufficiently strong.  The
jufra indicates that some other proposition >involving< the arguments cat and
chair is true.  For instance,

    .i lo mlatu ca'o rakpli fi lo stizu
      The cat is scratching (with its claws) the chair

>    to ra'unai lo mlatu ca'a vreta lo cuktykajna toi
>    (Incidentally, the cat actually reposes on a
>    book-type-of-counter/shelf.)

To conclude this the "na'e" must be attached to the sumti "lo stizu"

    .i lo mlatu ca'o stizu na'ebo lo stizu
       The cat is sitting on something other than the chair.

This indicates that the cat is sitting, but the object sat upon is not a chair.
 In fact, it is the book-shelf.  So "na'ebo lo stizu" can be replaced with
"lo cuktykajna".
