If there is a means of leaving the room it does not follow than anyone actually leaves the room. No, a `means of knowing' is different from an `act of leaving'. A more accurate metaphor is "ability to leave the room". Thus, your statement is more accurately put: If there is a means of leaving the room, it follows than anyone who has that ability has the means of leaving the room. This is similar to Lojbab's formulation: If there is a means of knowing, it follows than the means must be available to those who subscribe to that means of knowing. -- Robert J.
