I have had poor luck communicating with some LLG members (and getting responses), but we have to set an official date for LogFest, astime grows short. LogFest 98 will be held on the weekend of July 11-12, with the annual meeting of LLG scheduled for 1030AM on Sunday (july 12). For those unfamiliar with LogFest, it is the annual gathering here in Fairfax VA (specifically at my house) in the Washington DC suburbs, for Lojban-related purposes of considerable variety. We are required to have an annual members' meeting for those who are voting members, but this is just the excuse to get together. There will be discussion about Lojban, probably some discussion IN Lojban. John Cowan will be here and can autograph anyone's copy of the reference grammar, which will likely be a major topic of conversation. LogFest will start Friday when the first guest shows up %^). Most attendees use our spare beds, sleeping bags, etc. because the discussions go on at all hours. We ask for a contribution to offset food costs, but this is not mandatory. (but please let me know if you are thinking of attending). I can give directions to anyone who needs them - we are located at the end of a subway line, with reasonably convenient access to the airports, train and bus stations for people coming from out of town. For people who cannot attend in person, we will have a few scheduled times when we will be on IRC (Internet Relay Chat) - I will post the details when I know more, but in the past this has been at around 0930, 1400, and sometime in the evening local time (EDT = 4 hours before GMT). Usually the IRC discussuion is both in Lojban and in English as the various participants see fit - we try to have some period of Lojban only discussion. In recent years, LogFest has been in August, but we chose to hold it in July this year because we would have been competing with the World Science fiction convention in Baltimore if we had held it the weekend we had been considring. July 11 was the best available date for John Cowan to attend and those who I have consulted (and who have responded) say that this date is acceptable. I'm hoping that turnout will be good, but with this short notice, some may not be able to make it. In the past we have ahad between 12 and 24 people attending at various times during the weekend. Enough for good and lively discussions. Again, let me know if you think you willbe able to attend (and if you are hoping to particpate in IRC discussions, let me know what time constraints apply). Questions are welcome. lojbab ---- lojbab lojbab@access.digex.net Bob LeChevalier, President, The Logical Language Group, Inc. 2904 Beau Lane, Fairfax VA 22031-1303 USA 703-385-0273 Artificial language Loglan/Lojban: ftp.access.digex.net /pub/access/lojbab or see Lojban WWW Server: href="http://xiron.pc.helsinki.fi/lojban/" Order _The Complete Lojban Language_ - see our Web pages or ask me.
