I should have known there would be a quick response and prepared for it. It takes me about three days to write a paragraph in Lojban, and I just wasn't ready to continue the discussion. Regarding completeness, well, I was just taking my cue from the statement at the top of the file 'roget': "The work is incomplete and omits new gismu." I was unsure of the currency of that statement because it was in a paragraph labelled "6/90 version" and the copyright at the top of the file said "1991", but it was all I had to go on. Regarding the organization of the existent thesaurus, I'd appreciate your posting the hierarchy as a table of contents, or just giving the name and edition of the (presumably English) thesaurus used as a template. I'm guessing that "Roget" is to thesauri as "Webster" is to dictionaries: a talisman to give the air of authenticity rather than a meaningful statement of intellectual lineage. Finally, regarding my replicating all that work, d'oh! I claim the excuse of mental patterns formed by my career: I make my living mainly by taking over screwed up software projects with no coherence, poor quality, and no design and implementation notes; usually the best solution is to scrap the existent work and start over. Sometimes I forget that that pattern doesn't always apply to the rest of life. Ta, Steven ------------------------------------ Here's the English I mangled into some semblence of Lojban: Chagrin. I knew someone would quickly respond. I did not prepare. I need three days for writing a paragraph in Lojban. The current thesaurus contains "The work is incomplete and omits new gismu." I believed that the thesaurus is incomplete. Please write the classes or write the name of the thesaurus. Bye, Steven
