Taking a few licenses, the Lojban VV cmavo can more or less cover this table: > serenity/joy/ecstasy || pensiveness/sadness/grief > interest/anticipation/vigilance || distraction/surprise/amazement > annoyance/anger/rage || apprehension/fear/terror > boredom/disgust/loathing || acceptance/trust/admiration o'u/ui/u'a || u'u/uinai/uu a'u/a'a/a'e || u'i/ue/u'e oi/o'onai/o'unai || o'i/ii/u'onai u'inai/a'unai/iunai || i'a/i'i/io There are 39 VV cmavo in Lojban. 20 of them appear in the table (a couple only with nai). Of the remaining 19, 8 can be added to the table: i'e/i'o/i'u/o'e could be added to the i'a/i'i/io group, as they are all variations on that theme, ua can be included with u'i/ue/u'e, a'i with a'u/a'a/a'e, and uo and o'a with o'u/ui/u'a. All of those are reactions one has to the world as it is. Looking at the 11 that are left: ia/ie/au/a'o/ai/ei belief/agreement/wish/hope/intention/"obligation". These are reactions to ideas about the world rather than to the world itself. ia: how the speaker considers the world to be. au: how the speaker would like the world to be but isn't. a'o: how the speaker would like the world to be and maybe is. ai: how the speaker plans the world to end up being. ei: how the speaker considers that the world ought to be. ie: like ia but with the idea originating from someone else. e'a/e'e/e'o/e'u permission/exhortation/request/suggestion are also about an idea of the world, with the added component of the speaker's attitude towards the participation of some agent in making the world fit with that idea. In some cases, there can be some doubt as to which group an attitudnal belongs to. i'a (acceptance) and ii (fear) could be reactions to ideas about the world instead of to the world itself, but I think the intent was that they are for reactions to the world. So {ii le tsani cu farlu} would be said if the sky is truly falling down, not if one is afraid that it might. I don't know what to do with the last one, e'i (constraint). mu'o mi'e xorxes __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
