Gutenberg would have said "in reality no one would ever want to print anything but Bibles". > I don't think lojban will befit as a language for > human communication. > Suppose if we have a region to speak lojban from now > on, and lojban > being the first language of all newborns. This i > believe because humans > do not process information as a logical machine, > even if all their > thoughts are in a logical language. If you leave all language evolution to natural evolution, yes. But in fact if you have enough power to do that to them, you are also powerful enough to educate them into a culture in which breaking THE HOLY RULES when speaking is a capital sin. Or, at least, when speaking in formal situations. I do believe that humans process informations as logical machines. Yesterday I read somebody posting a list of cosmetics companies and asking the readers to boycott them because they test their product with animals. Of course she has seen on some website some photo of a blind puppy, with some talk about "soulless scientists", and that has triggered her emotional reactions. This is logical. She thinks "what can I do about it", and proselitizing looks like a logical course of action. She eats burgers without problems of conscience because she has not seen how did the cow live. She takes pills when her head hurts because she does not know that all medicines have been animal-tested. If you knew everything about her, you would see that she behaves completely following he rules of her logic. I call that a logical machine. I am a logical machine too, but some of my rules are different from hers. mu'o mi'e jordis ===== __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
