I have nothing against the current logo, but I'm not sure why Lojban needs a logo at all. It's a language, and languages don't generally have logos. I don't see a logo for French or Classical Greek. Lojbanistan is a fictional country, and, as you point out, needs a flag, not a logo, though I suppose the current logo or the alternative proposed would do nicely as a flag.
