Well, I was thinking more along the lines of perhaps "integral" in mathematics. Most of us who learn lojban are hardcore nerds. Thus, the gismu should start reflecting that. I don't care about lions, or Christians (although it's quite fun when they meet). I care about integrals, photons, computers, derivatives, complex numbers, robots, transhumanism, and that sort of thing. I don't want cultural neutrality. I want to elevate the lojban/transhumanist culture way above all others. Eventually, they'll be like the ants that they are, bleating in their gibberish languages. Realistically speaking, I think the gismu space is more open than the cmavo space. As more transhumanists and nerds join in, hopefully we'll change the gismu. In the past, I had wanted to change cmavo to better reflect hexadecimal. I wasn't approaching it from the right angle then. The structure of Lojban is an amazing thing--my donations and strong gratitude reflect that. .gy. .iacai fe'o Quoting Pierre Abbat : On Friday 27 October 2006 00:22, Ryan Keppel wrote: > coi ju'o zoi gy. Maybe make is a fu'ivla "irrational > suiciders" or something. .gy. .u'inai co'o fe'o I think there should be more gismu for kinds of chemicals and other morphemes that go into chemical names. Although, say, "alkyne" isn't a commonly used word, making a complex chemical name out of rafsi fu'ivla, or ordinary fu'ivla connected with {zei}, makes it thrice as long as it ought to be. I'm no expert on chemistry, but I know that numbers are used in at least two different ways in chemical names, which may require another set of number rafsi besides {pav, rel, cib...}. Also there ought to be more plant and animal names. Currently the bird gismu include two Anseriformes, two Galliformes, and none of the largest order of birds. I think {korvo} would be a good addition, As to plants, there is no gismu for the most eaten fruit in the world; it should have the gismu {mango}, as agreed by five of the six languages (the Hindi word is "aam"). And several times when trying to coin a word, I could not find quite the right gismu. The "round numbers" is the latest.
