I can do graphics, css, and I'm working on learning php to better understand Drupal and phpBB. I too am much more accustomed to web based forums and although I subscribe to this list, it does seem archaic. I also see it as possible to interact with a phpBB forum as though it were a mailing list: it could mail out posts to people who choose this method of interaction and those people could mail their posts to the board.
