Because CLL's convention is useless, absurd, arbitrary, against common sense, and so on, why else? :) Also, not that this really matters all that much, but that's how I used it before CLL was written, see: http://groups.google.com.ar/group/lojban/browse_frm/thread/aa86dc9592a0faf8/fff9c31e2b5aba4c?lnk=gst "no'i la donkixotes goi ko'a e la santcopansas goi ko'e facki fi fo'a goi cinoji'ivono bifymlo be va le srasu foldi" Interesting that I used "ntc", probably without much thought, and the use of "va" is the ancient one there, neither CLL's nor the one I prefer now. I see ji'i in a class with su'o/su'e/za'u/me'i/da'a, providing a range of numbers rather than one specific number, and taking a reference number as a complement: su'o pamu = at least fifteeen su'e pamu = at most fifteen za'u pamu = more than fifteen me'i pamu = less than fifteen da'a pamu = all but fifteen ji'i pamu = around fifteen When two of these ranges are used together, my preferred convention is that if they are compatible, they are ANDed, but if they are incompatible they are ORed: su'o pamu su'e reno = between fifteen and twenty me'i pamu za'u reno = less than fifteen or more than twenty (ji'i) pamu ji'i reno = around fifteen or twenty mu'o mi'e xorxes -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "lojban" group.
