I disagree, I think that fu'ivla can be taken from any language. Some of them are from English. Some of my favorites from other languages are "klamburi" (French), ".alzaitu" (Arabic) and ".arxokuna" (Powhatan). There aren't any words that are in "most" languages, except for a few which have been spread widely by being copied in modern times. If we followed that rule there would be very few words we could make into fu'ivla (though strangely enough "cool" would be one of them, along with "hi" and "cocacola"). I think the way we should make fu'ivla culturally neutral is to draw from a wide variety of sources. That enriches our language, while also laying out more of a welcome mat to speakers of languages other than the gismu sources. For instance I know some Potawatomi, so maybe someday I'll choose a word or two to bring from there. Perhaps "sweetgrass" or "fry bread". :) mi'e la stela selckiku mu'o --=20 You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "= lojban" group.
