In fact, I had the idea of doing something like that: a program for reading lojban, that, given a syntactically correct text, print that with some nice text formatting (ie colors, italics, highlighting). But I decided to actually learn lojban first... before continuing getting into new projects. > mi'e la stela selckiku mu'o > > -- I absolutely love AV I, and I was one of the voters against the changes that were going to be made in the Victorian version of this very same translation (I don't remember who had that project). But we all have to acknowledge that lojban isn't that readable. Lojban has the particularity that it doesn't need whitespaces, for example. We can actually read a string of characters without any space, tab, line feed, carriage return... but we don't, because it's more difficult. Whitespaces actually give us information: word separation. But if we were machines, we could ignore them. I have to say when I saw the special characters in the text I felt uneasy... but they do help. They give the same information the words give, but visually they are more viewable. The problem I have with replacement is that we break the isomorphism, since a the sound lu, for example, can be represented by "lu" and "<<". We would have an epimorphism instead. mu'o mi'e .leos.molas. --=20 My Lojban journal: http://learninglojban.wordpress.com/ My personal =B5blog: http://leomolas.tumblr.com/ --=20 You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "= lojban" group.
