That's right, according to Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dasara Apparently the name is derived from "remover of bad fate" in Sanskrit, so it could be "la maldimvi'u" if you were to translate it (which is not necessarily a good idea). I assume it's the name of a god. I guess the target audience of the original book (i.e. mainly Indian children) will be familiar with the Dasara fair, but many Lojban readers probably won't be. My first thought when I read that they were going to a "tersalci" was that they were going to the birthday of somebody named Dasara, but then the buying of things there made little sense.
