I think the concept of cimjvo should be carefully guided, but are amazing concepts. When a lujvo could NOT POSSIBLY have another meaning (like wet lujvo or nickel-dog), I think it's fine to have an implicit metaphor marker. Anybody that feels to the contrary I imagine would be very stiff/boring. There's a place and time for jvajvo and cimjvo alike; we should have rules prescribing when it is and is not appropriate to avoid having large and indecipherable bodies of metaphorical text just like English, which is one of the things we'd all like to avoid. To have a word describing the phenomenon, and to have a few choice words that exist in many languages, is entirely appropriate. In English we have both http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/fish_story "fish stories" (regarding the drunken tales of fisherman talking about the giant fish that got away) and the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tall_tale Tall Tale, a story that is spoken as fact or a true retelling, but is, in reality, very unbelievable for many a reason. In Lojban, instead of a 'big fish' we have a 'nickel dog'. For many ideas such as these, we should have parallel concepts, and perhaps a few more culture words, but let's try to be conservative to a degree. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "lojban" group.
