I personally liked SmartFM more so than anki. With anki, it seemed to be "Do 
you remember this?" and I could say yes/no/maybe. With SmartFM, it said the 
word aloud, had me pick from multiple choice, then showed me the definition 
and had me type the word in. It had a lot of different ways to test me for 
one word, not just "Do you know  this word?". Plus, the audio and sound 
effects provided entertainment and positive reinforcement for remembering 
the words. Really, truly, honestly, the sound was half of what I liked about 
SmartFM over anki.
