I eventually created a Google Group, "lojban-soudan" (lit. "lojban-talk"), as mentioned by guskant above, in March 2010. The group currently has 15 members, including selkik (although he said he couldn't read Japanese). I don't live in Japan, so I haven't been able to come along to the small gatherings in Tokyo.
