That just looks horrific...) but I do know that I tend to avoid certain text characters like the plague. That is, I would vouch for $\varepsilon$ in favor of trying to get \textvarepsilon to work. Otherwise, I'd definitely say you seem to be missing whatever pronounciation package you intended to use to parse this.
