Travellers who visit France again and again, as much out of sympathywith its peoples institutions as from a desire to see its monuments andoutward features, will find ample to reward them in Seine et Marne. You may walk for milesthrough what seems one vast orchard, only, instead of turf, rich cropsare growing under the trees. This is indeed the orchard of France, onwhich we English folk largely depend for our summer fruits. A few daysago the blackcurrant trees were being stripped for the benefit ofParisian lovers of cassis, a liqueur in high repute.
