I believe a half million readers is a sufficient sample to make my cas= e that ebooks are not taking over any time soon. * I am not sure I shared this great reporting from the L.A. Times about = counterfeit books. Just keep that = in mind when looking at Chinese pricing...add 10% and boat shipping an= d THEN land shipping from LA or Seattle... before you decide. * MORE WAYS TO LEAVE AMAZON Distribution. Yes, specialized distribution is yet another way to sell around Amazon= . Let's say you have titles on classic automobiles. I happen to like cla= ssic automobiles. Are you aware there are about two dozen bookstores, = catalogs, online bookstores, and magazines who sell books about classi= c automobiles? There are a few tricks to getting your titles in such publications and= places, but they are available and are solid buyers and repeat buyers= of books. A hundred years ago when I had written a series of books on= classic cars, I sold them to some of the outlets that existed at that= time. Small unit sales, but steady, and paid in advance, good discoun= ts, no returns, so why not? Let's stay with classic car books. Classic car dealers? Maybe. My experience has been not really. Car museums? ABSOLUTELY! Every museum has a gift shop or museum shop or some place where they s= ell stuff to generate extra revenue. Again, good pay, in advance, good= discounts, no returns - or at least nominal returns if you permit the= m, solid and repeat buyers. And with this market you have a bonus... y= ou can advertise your titles are in the ABC and XYZ car museums. Yes, = that means something to car people. One last... depending on the topic of your book, you might also approa= ch classic car repair people. Again, a long shot, but if it is about r= estoration, for example, a restorer would love to use it for an advert= isement for his/her services. You get the idea. You might not know but the tariff on Chinese book print= ing at 10% of invoice is still in play (except Bibles, of course, noti= ce the separation of church and state… state pays, church doesn= ’t). Just keep that in mind when looking at Chinese pricing&hell= ip;add 10% and boat shipping and THEN land shipping from LA or Seattle= … before you decide.

Distribution.

Yes, specialized distribution is yet another way to sell around= Amazon.

Let’s say you have titles on classic automobiles. I happe= n to like classic automobiles. Are you aware there are about two dozen= bookstores, catalogs, online bookstores, and magazines who sell books= about classic automobiles?

There are a few tricks to getting your titles in such publicati= ons and places, but they are available and are solid buyers and repeat= buyers of books. A hundred years ago when I had written a series of b= ooks on classic cars, I sold them to some of the outlets that existed = at that time. Small unit sales, but steady, and paid in advance, good = discounts, no returns, so why not?

Let’s stay with classic car books.

Classic car dealers? Maybe. My experience has been not really.<= /span>

Car museums? ABSOLUTELY!

Every museum has a gift shop or museum shop or some place where= they sell stuff to generate extra revenue. Again, good pay, in advanc= e, good discounts, no returns – or at least nominal returns if y= ou permit them, solid and repeat buyers. And with this market you have= a bonus… you can advertise your titles are in the ABC and XYZ = car museums. Yes, that means something to car people.

One last… depending on the topic of your book, you might= also approach classic car repair people. Again, a long shot, but if i= t is about restoration, for example, a restorer would love to use it f= or an advertisement for his/her services.

You get the idea. Think outside the Amazon!
