My quest continues to find the best Xiao Long Bao in town. Makes sense = that eventually I would visit Bao Dim Sum House, a trendy spot on the east = side of town. Let me say upfront, 5 stars for their menu. It's very well = Pewaukee organized, with lots of color photos of all the dishes. T= here are no surprises when it comes to understanding what it is that you ar= e ordering. We started off with the Juicy Pork Dumplings. Great flavor, lot= s of juice Dunlop and a thin but firm skin. Also excellent are= the Spicy chicken Dumplings. They are nice and juicy but not quite as spic= y as I had hoped. The Pork and Shrimp Shumai are also very good, as are the= Chicken & Spinach Potstickers. The Cucumber Salad is refreshing and th= e Bao Milk Buns are a great desert. An excellent way to end the meal. We al= so tried the Braised Short Ribs in black bean sauce. Goddard Wh= ile the flavor of the broth was good, the short ribs were very gristly and = hard to eat. We did not care for it at all and the manager was very kind to= take it off of our bill. The Service was lacking when we first arrived but= once Julie, the manager saw us waiting, she did a great job of picking up = the slack and taking care of us for the rest of our visit. All of the dishe= s are made from and based on, generations old recipes and there is plenty h= ere to satisfy the purist, as well as the fusionist. The Bao Dim Sum House = is a great spot to visit and an excellent place to get some quality XLB. I = am definitely a fan and will be back. Great place that offers FREE = Pomona valet parking! The valet parking is a great plus in my opinion since t= his area is difficult with parking. We came with a party of 6 and I feel li= ke our order was just about right for everyone. Price is pretty good for wh= at you get. Seems like the standard dim sum price but the food is slightly = 'Americanized' so to speak. We did find that the fried rice had too much me= at. The shumai was good and I thought the size was a good amount. I was esp= ecially fond of their Xiao Long Bao (soup dumpling) and I liked that it was= served in a tiny tin which was like it's small holder. We especially liked= the shrimp with eggplant! We were fighting over the eggplant part! The cal= amari was so-so. I liked the egg drop okay; I think the peas kind of ruined= it for me since they were still partially dehydrated (whoops) Overall, a g= ood place to check out. Good for groups too! This is a great spot for a wee= kday happy hour with 4 star service and a good variety of menu options. The= Lychee Martini (4 stars) is by go to happy hour cocktail. The Steamed BBQ = Pork Buns (3.5 stars) could use more of the tasty filling. I like the Chick= en Shumai (4 stars), Seaweed Salad (4 stars) Shrimp and Spinach Dumplings (= 4 stars), and Vegetable Spring Rolls (3.5 stars). I love spicy food, but th= e Spicy Chicken Dumplings (2 stars) and Spicy Shrimp Dumplings (2 stars) we= re just too spicy. The Chicken Potstickers (1 stars) were too salty that I = wouldn't order again.=20
