The thin wail of the sirens echoed off of the buildings as the police maneuvered their way through the streets.

Outside, the crowd was becoming larger, the people at the back standing on their toes and craning their necks to get a glimpse, regardless of any danger. The traffic was at a standstill, and cars horns were beeping, their drivers yelling profanities.

Trying hard not to smirk as he ignored the noise, Ben held one gloved hand out.

?It's over,? he said, his voice calm and steady. ?Why don't you just hand it over, and no one needs to get hurt.?

The man standing behind the counter gritted his teeth. Ben could see his eyes dart from side to side, desperate for an escape, the mask covering his face damp with sweat.

?Oh, that's just what you want me to do, isn't it?? the man yelled, a revolver in one hand and the bag, bulging with cash, gripped tightly in the other.

Ben shrugged,? You're cornered. What choice do you have? You're already a criminal, but some will see you as confused, lost. If you start shooting though, that's something different.?

The man's mouth twisted in a snarl.

?Fine, here's your money!?

Throwing the bag at Ben, he leapt over the counter, landing neatly as his cape swirled around him, and aimed his revolver at him.

Fumbling with the bag, Ben swore as he noticed the other man's hands shake slightly.

The crowd behind him gasped and shrieked. Someone screamed. The staff lying on the floor kept their heads down but seemed to huddle closer together.

Narrowing his eyes, Ben threw the bag back at the man who, not expecting it, stared at it as it landed on the floor with a thud.

Ben threw himself at him, his right fist landing on his face. He cringed as he heard it crack.

Staggering back, the man caught hold of the counter, his eyes swimming with tears.

?What the hell?? he gasped, rubbing his cheek.

?Now, are you going to come quietly, or not?? Ben asked, his hands balled into fists in front of him.

Reaching down, the man grabbed hold of a lady lying on the floor, and dragged her up to stand in front of him.

Sobbing, the ladies eyes met Bens.

Don't let him hurt me, she begged silently.

?I think you'll move out of my way now, won't you?? the man asked as he held the revolver against her head.

Slowly, Ben took a step or two back, allowing him more room.

?I knew you'd change your mind with a bit of persuasion.?

The man walked slowly towards the door, his eyes not leaving Ben's, his arm still gripping the ladies waist.

Don't panic, Ben willed her silently, It's all going to go as planned.

The crowd parted as the man walked backwards and out of the door.

?Do you know what?? the man said quietly. ?I think I might keep this lady, you know as an extra reward.?

?No!? the lady screamed, squirming in his grip.

Holding onto her more tightly, the man aimed his revolver above his head and fired. Instead of a bullet, a long coil of thin rope shot out of the end and attached itself to the building, higher up out of sight.

?See you later,? the man said, and he shot through the air, disappearing above the heads of the people gathered, who craned the necks and squinted their eyes to try and keep track of him.

?There he goes!? someone yelled, pointing,  as the lady still in the man's grip, screamed. A shoe fell from one of her kicking legs, landing in the gutter.

?That could have been nasty,? Ben muttered to himself as he noticed the sharp, spiky heel.

?Don't worry,? he said loudly, feeling the eyes of the crowd, and several hundred mobile phones, on him. ?I will follow him and rescue the lady.?

The crowd cheered and clapped.

The sirens stopped as the police arrived.

?Is there anything we can do to help?? one of them asked as they hurried over.

Smiling, Ben gestured to the staff still lying on the floor,? I'm sure there's plenty you can do. But I'll take this with me and make sure it gets to where it's needed.?

Scooping up the bulging bag of cash, he sprinted through the crowd, feeling some of them pat him on the back as he passed them, his silky cape billowing out behind him.

?Now that's a man this city needs,? the police muttered.

Sweating under his own mask, Ben ran through the streets, weaving in and out of the cars still at a standstill, the drivers staring at him with open mouths.

?Probably never seen a superhero with a bag of cash before,? Ben chuckled to himself, as he turned down a dark alley littered with rubbish.

A door, it's paint grimy and peeling, was open in the building at the end.

Glancing behind, Ben checked there was no one following before slipping inside and locking it.

The stairs were dimly lit and creaked with each step.

Breathing heavily, Ben reached the landing.

?There you are!? the man with the mask said, his feet propped on a nearby table. ?Thought you'd stolen the loot!?

?I told you it would all go to plan.?

?He was just telling me his plans with all the money,? the lady said, frowning.

?All the money??

?Well, it's not like you need it, is it?? the man asked, pulling the mask off and tossing it the floor. ?These things are so hot. Anyway, let's have it!?

He held his hands out hopefully.

?I don't think so,? Ben said quietly.

?What do you mean??

?There's no way you're getting all the money.?

Quickly Ben pulled out his own revolver from a hidden pocket, firing it before the other man could do no more than gape at him in surprise, and then watch as his body crumpled on the floor.

?I take it we still have an arrangement?? Ben asked, turning to the lady with a smile.

He froze as he noticed she had the man's revolver in her own hands.

?You know, I think this might work even better,? the lady said. ?Think of the headlines,? Superhero dies bravely defending young lady. Cash missing.?

?Stacey, you'll never get away with this.?

Slowly Stacey squeezed the trigger, and watched as Ben dropped.

?You know what Ben,? she whispered leaning over him as she picked up the bag. ?I think I already have, I mean some one's got to keep this city just right, don't they??

That's the thing about this city, the green-eyed girl thought sourly as she looked down at her chess game, blood has been spilled and no one cares. Well, now that will change. The girl reached for her pawn to move it forward but stopped. Her left arm burned and moments of time coursed through her veins. Images of the brown-eyed girl filled her mind. The brown-eyed girl sat in a completely white room, in front of a chessboard exactly like hers. The brown-eyed girl moved her pawn forward with a blank expression on her face. The green-eyed girl looked around her dark room, ?Very well, miss. I'll play your game.? She smiled as she moved her pawn, ``Whoever you are, I hope you make a worthy opponent.? ...

Tina locked eyes with Bonnie and signed, ?You have never met Adaline; how could you have dreamt of her?? Zack looked at Ethan, ?Your eyes changed after Adaline tackled you, so maybe hers did too.? Cody and Liz stood by the door, both lost in their own thoughts. Simon looked out the window, off to the horizon, ?So, where is this graveyard?? Zack ruffled through the old notebooks as he explained, ?Addie built all worlds on her old poems and dreams. Each poem had some external and internal resources within them; that could be music, some of her old memories, TV shows, or even books.? Zack pulled out one notebook that was full of poems as he continued, ?One of her poems was about Alice in Wonderland and how she got lost in her creativity. Listen to this,? Zack held out the book and began to read...

?I'm lost in my own little magical world; going deeper into the white rabbit's hole. I sit with the Mad Hatter, sipping tea till the pain and sadness goes away. I painted the Queen's roses red with my broken heart. Alice betrayed me and now I am the Queen of Hearts.?

Once Zack finished reading there was silence. Ethan had a confessed expression on his face, ?What does Wonderland have to do with a graveyard?? Krystal put her face into her palm and sighed, ?The graveyard is Wonderland. What is a place full of pain and sadness?? Damian raised an eyebrow, ?I don't think that's the right place, because Addie had an idea for a story in there as well. See?? He took the book and started to flip through the pages, ?Here it is,? Damian started to read out loud...

?This house was the home of a witch who fell in love with a young boy who lived in the town. The two kept their love hidden because the townsfolk were evil and feared witchcraft. The witch was caught with the boy by the boy's wicked twin sister who wanted her brother dead. The witch was burned in the middle of the town while her lover watched in pain. He was to be killed as well. The cemetery in the backyard is dedicated to them.?

Cody and Liz looked up, remembering where there were. Liz walked over to Damian, ?That might be the place to go.? Zack looked at the group, ?We can divide into teams and go to each place while a third team stays here to look for Glenda.? Zack, Tina, and Ethan decide to go to Wonderland while Damian, Liz, and Cody go to the witch's house. The rest of the group go help the search party by the river. Zack looked at Ethan as Tina walked through the portal first, ?You better help me find Adaline, or I will kill you.? Ethan pulled out the Pen of Death from his jean pocket and nodded, ?She saved me; I own her a lot.? Zack's eyes narrowed, ?Yeah, you do.? The two stepped through the portal together...

The green-eyed girl sat looking at the chess game as two more pawns moved forward along with a bishop. A smile appeared on her face as she called for two masked figures. One had metal legs and the other had long brown hair that went to her hips. The green-eyed girl's smile grew as she moved her two pawns forward, ?I have a job for you two.? ...

The brown-eyed girl looked down at her game as her face hardened. She stood up and mouthed something unintelligible. Her tattoo lit up like a light bulb as she picked up the bishop and whisper into it...

Zack felt a chill run down his spine. He reached into his hoodie pocket and felt the Devil's Pen pieces move around. Zack stared ahead at the entrance of Wonderland; a maze of rose bushes. Adaline was telling him something, but he didn't know what. Tina and Ethan stood on either side of him. Ethan locked eyes with Zack, ?We will find Adaline.? Zack nodded and the three of them stepped into the maze, unaware of the fact that they were being followed by two ?close friends'...

Damian shook his head in disbelief, ?I thought it would be here.? Cody and Liz stood by the witch's gravestone while Damian paced back and forth. Liz laid a flower by the grave, ?Well, it isn't and now we can go to our world to help search.? Cody sighed in agreement, ?Yeah, dude. It's getting late and maybe Zack and the others have it covered.? Damian sighed, ? Okay, let's go.? As he turned to open a portal, Lason and Angel came out of one. Lason pulled his elbow back to reveal a gun built into it and started to scan the area. Angel locked eyes with Liz, ?Are you ok? Were you followed?? Cody and Damian exchanged glances. Lason kept his gun-arm out, ?Adaline told us that you and Zack's group were in trouble.?...

Zack led the way as the maze thickened. Tina felt chills running down her spine for no reason. Ethan looked back at her, ?Bae? Is something wrong?? Tina looked up to see Zack and Ethan had pulled out weapons and were looking behind her. Ethan had the Pen of Death in hand while Zack just held an ordinary kitchen knife. Tina turned around to see two masked figures, a boy and girl, blocking the way they came. The two took off their masks and dropped them onto the dirt. Ethan's and Tina's mouths dropped. Standing before them were Artie and Ethan's sister, Abby...
