We published What Is Lojban? with Lightning Source, which I'm quite happy with. However, I wanted to mention that if we want to keep things cheap, *and* we expect to do nearly all of our sales via Amazon, *and* we don't mind it being soft-cover, we could do Create Space (Amazon's self-publishing arm) instead; see http://writeitforward.wordpress.com/2012/06/28/why-is-cool-gus-publishing-switching-from-lightning-source-to-createspace/ and many more such things online for discussions of the issues. If people don't mind spending the money, we should just stick with LSI I think. 2. I need to buy an ISBN for the second edition (this is CLL v1.1, the not substantively changed version). Does anyone object? It's $125. Since we're going to need another ISBN for CLL v2, at least, and any ebook versions we choose to provide (I'd *certainly* like to publish a Kindle), I suggest we spend $275 for 10 more ISBNs (there's a deal on right now). 3. Once that's done, the test print will cost ~$150. Note that *this will not be the final test print*. This is *JUST* to make sure that the Prince software I'm using produces a PDF that makes Lightning Source happy and doesn't look terrible. So there'll be at least one more test print (at $40 each I think?). 5. Once it's all ready to publish, we'll need to buy a license for Prince. This will cost $500. I consider this *MOST EMPHATICALLY* worth the money, because it lets us use our skill at HTML and CSS (skills that we have A LOT of in this community) to print the book. Does anyone object to these expenditures? Any further thoughts? -- http://intelligence.org/ : Our last, best hope for a fantastic future. .i ko na cpedu lo nu stidi vau loi jbopre .i dafsku lu na go'i li'u .e lu go'i li'u .i ji'a go'i lu na'e go'i li'u .e lu go'i na'i li'u .e lu no'e go'i li'u .e lu to'e go'i li'u .e lu lo mamta be do cu sofybakni li'u _______________________________________________ Llg-members mailing list Llg-members@lojban.org http://mail.lojban.org/mailman/listinfo/llg-members
