Lojban, however, has the rule, which doesn't exist in any natlan= g I know, that
one brivla may not have two or more unrelated meanings. So we need some way= to
prevent people who make up words for subatomic particles and people who mak= e
up words for North African cultural practices from using the same word for = two
different things, or to arbitrate between them if they do.
=

that's about the common db, not teaching.

=C2=A0

For instance, the word "malpigi" could mean:
*one of the major (10-18 in humans) divisions of a kidney,
*an excretory tubule of an insect, or
*a plant closely related to acerola.
The word could cover the first two meanings, or the third, but not both. My=
druthers are to assign "malpigi" to the plant, with "rutrmal= pigi" and
"ricrmalpigi" if we want to distinguish the fruit from the tree, = and call the
excretory structure "ragrmalpigi" with no type-4 shortening. (All= of these
meanings are named for Marcello Malpighi.)

Lanthanidia deliciosa: What the kiwifruit would be
if it weren't so radioactive.
