If the meeting is going on, yes. In actual fact, I will allow a limited amount of time for New Business, and then call for a motion to adjourn. > I think members need to be prepared for every meeting immediately > presenting their proposals when time for new business comes. That would be nice, but the membership is being decidedly apathetic these days. > There need to be rules for that. They aren't enforceable. The long duration of this meeting has in part been due to my health. There is a secondary reason in that I allow 3 days for email response on pretty much every decision-vote, because I know not everyone reads their email every day. I suspect a diligent president/chair could keep the meeting down to probably 2 months and still allow reasonable time for all issues. One month would probably be difficult if we allow the full Bylaw prescribed agenda. Maybe next year someone on the Board will show enough interest/activity to let me delegate the chair role to them (but mukti already has a major meeting role as Secretary, and you have actively spurned officership). Personally, I would love to go back to having the entire meeting take place in a couple of IRC sessions, with voting by email on some issues. That worked really well for the couple of years that we tried it, except that participation gets real hard on anyone in the Eastern European and Asian range of time zones, if we set the time to be comfortable for Americans and Western Europeans. I've tried to use Sunday (11am or noon EST) IRC sessions to help this in the last couple of years. (When we held the meeting in IRC, it generally took a couple of sessions of 4 hours or so. When the meetings were held here in Fairfax, using proxies for those unable to attend, the meetings took 6-8 hours. So any attempt at alternate meeting styles/formats pretty much has to allow for a total involvement of 8 hours, however long it may be spread over.) lojbab _______________________________________________ Llg-members mailing list Llg-members@lojban.org http://mail.lojban.org/mailman/listinfo/llg-members
