There are some major CVS rockstars out there. Shoppers who walk away with $40 worth of stuff and only paid 25 cents out of pocket.

Over the weekend Bargain Mom Facebook fan Bianca posted a picture of the all the items she scored for only $1.75 out of pocket. You can see the picture below.

Here's what she wrote:

"I spent a whopping $1.75, came home with $2 in ECBs that I went into the store with plus an additional $9.99 to spend later. The guy at the register asked me was I married and then told me that my husband was a lucky man...lol! Couponing is addictive!" She's right it is addictive. So you want to try CVSing? Sure you do. Nervous? Of course you are. Don't worry it's easier than you think. The key is to start small. Make one small transaction. Earn some ECBs and let it sink in, then go back for more. Think of CVS as a foreign country that only accepts Extra Care Bucks and coupons as currency. The less American money you spend there and the more ECB and coupons you use, the better you'll get at walking out of there with free items. Let's get started: 1. Register for an Extra Care Card. You can do it in the store or online It's a secure site. (If you loose or forget your card you can still shop the ECB program just by telling them your phone number linked to the card) Once you get your card however you'll want to hang on to it. You'll need it for a couple of bonuses. 2. Go online and link your ECB card with your online email account. You'll get emails with extra coupons and freebies every other week.
3. In-store coupon printer There's a coupon printer in the store where you can swipe your card and get coupons instantly in the store. 4. What are ECBs? ECBs are Extra Care Bucks that are earned after you purchase certain products each week. Some promotions last a week, while some last all month. They print at the bottom of your receipt with a clear expiration date. You can use them instantly. Think of it as cash. They are valid on everything in the store excluding prescriptions, gift cards, tobacco products, alcohol, stamps or milk. 5. Storing your ECBs - Take care of them. I'll repeat they are just like cash. Keep them in a safe place where they are not exposed to heat, water, little kids crayons etc. CVS usually does not replace lost or destroyed ECBs. If you leave them on your dash the receipt will turn black. Learned that the hard way. The scanner will not be able to read the barcode. 6. Coupons - CVS issues their own coupons they also accept manufacturer coupons. The trick to really saving at CVS and how you'll walk out with free stuff is to combine coupons with the weekly ECB promotions. You will have an initial investment of a few bucks, use your coupons on items offering an ECB return and you'll have ECBs to spend on your next transaction instead of your own "real" money.
7. Quarterly ECBs --These are ECBs you earn based on how much you spend at CVS during a quarter. Qualifying purchases include pretty much everything in the store including prescriptions. You'll get 2% back of what you actually spent and a $1 for every 2 prescriptions filled. This includes online purchases as well You can spend the quarterly ECBs online or in the store.
Your quarterly ECB amount will print around the first of the month after each quarter ends.Jan. to March
April to June July to Sept. Oct. to Dec. 8. Reading the promotions in the ads Some promotions call for you to purchase $25 in certain products to earn a certain amount of ECB. That total is before coupons! Some promotions run for several weeks and allow you to make qualifying purchases throughout the month. You can also bust up the promotion in some cases. I.E. make several transactions to qualify for the large sum of ECBs. It will print after your final purchase to meet the promotion requirements. 9. FREE items - Each week there are items in the CVS ad that runs Sunday to Saturday, marked FREE after ECBs. Or "It's Like Getting it For Free" Make a list of these items. Include the specifics.

Get your coupon matches for those items to lower your out of pocket expense up front. 10. Scenarios -- This is your game plan. You'll look at the ad or go to your favorite couponing ad match site coupon matches and best deals for each week. Plan what items you plan to purchase and in what order. You'll have a lot of little transactions. The goal being to spend as little of your own money as possible using coupons and ECBs to pay for everything.
