Hello, Everyone…

Since my last “Publishers For Sale&= rdquo; issue, I have been swamped by some very interesting companies, = lines, and even a couple single titles, for sale… all wishing t= o be resolved by the end of the year last year, and a few didn’t= quite make it but I am planning to make sure those are resolved by th= e end of March for a closing shortly thereafter.

As well, I have a few newer acquisition c= andidates available I am planning to have sold by the end of June. So,= what I am saying is that waiting won’t get you anything, but ac= ting could get you a great company or line at very little cost.

Here are just a half dozen, plus or minus, of my listings&helli= p; mostly those with deadlines or a strong desire to close by April/Ma= y. Feel free to inquire about the other half dozen or more listings I = have.

1.    EBOOK PUB= LISHER & DISTRIBUTOR… In business alm= ost ten years… Over 750 titles published and 1,200 titles distributed on non exclusive ba= sis. Distributed titles can be kept or dropped based on new owner&rsqu= o;s needs and strategic. 100% ebook with=20 about 15% in physical. Topics from fiction to non-fiction, wellness, b= usiness, poetry, anthology, name it.

In all honesty, the marketing ‘partne= r’ has left for other interests and revenues have faded a bit, b= ut in my review, very likely to bring it back with someone who is acti= ve in ebook and marketing. Revenue topped out over $250K not long ago.= Very motivated for early 2019 sale.

 

Still profitable… a small push would= put this deal at 1X. Current asking reflects bounty of titles already= done and ready to market/remarket, respected name in industry, profit= history with solid potential… inventory minimal, A/R minimal.<= /span>

2.    UNUSUAL MA= P COMPANY… In business 30 years, and with= over 500 copyrights, marketing agreements, and variations, this part-= time map company has a customer list, products, multiple websites, and= contracts licensing their products to very well-known organizations a= nd corporations. Just this summer, digitizing much of this work and pu= tting this treasure trove up on=20 Amazon… sales reflect this new ‘push’. They got ser= ious attention when the TV program “West Wing” used one of= their copyrighted maps on multiple episodes and they were off to the = races. All owners are into deep retirement and are not heavy marketers= …but their networking over the years has done them well.=

Profits con= sistently in the $30s… plus $70K inventory… and 500 prod= ucts in their potential line… Asking $295,000 which is 5X net plus inventory and some= value for IP assets.

Note, because of the high interest in = this company, all   presentations will be sent out March 10th, and initial so= licitations of interest and bids will be deadlined for March 31st= . A group of 2 to 3 potentials will be pursued for a second roun= d of detailed negotiations from whom a buyer will be chosen and final = negotiations settled anticipating an April or May closing.

    Academic= and Corporate Custom Planner Creator & Printer.

Business has been around for almost 20 year= s, owner wishes to retire. Current 3 years over $3MM in revenues per. = About 70% academic and 30% corporate. Should be resolved in March or A= pril since ordering season begins in April/May. Asking price reflects = 3 times current net. Small percentage could be financed by seller. Equ= ipment not included in this selling price but at this time is still av= ailable for sale to accompany the business if needed… Asking $1,100,000. Equipment se= parately at $250,000. Together, would reduce total asking to $1,250,00= 0. Negotiable if sale closes by end of April, 2019.

4.    Men Supp= orting Women’s Movement Magazine. This sub= ject could NOT be more timely! Has been around over 20 years. Revenues= come from subscriptions and some moderate donations during the year. = The magazine is a glossy but accepts no advertising, something that sh= ould change and make the entire operation substantially profitable alm= ost immediately.

Current owner willing to stay on as part ti= me editor and take 1099 or W-2 income in lieu of full purchase price, = permitting new owner to get a substantial tax benefit from this type o= f transaction. We can discuss.

5.    Amazing Il= lustrated Tech History Title of APPLE… Co= mplete history of APPL= E and its products including hundreds of photos of original a= nd current products. Amazing oversized coffee table book with substant= ial history and endorsed by Steve Wozniak. First published in 2013 and= did very well (40,000+ copies). Ready=20 for re-issue and re-marketing and in light of current events should ea= sily do better second time around, given their #1 status as an interna= tional corporate star. Asking includes some inventory available, right= s, and forfeiture of royalty. Negotiable to reduce in exchange for roy= alty downline. Asking = $95,000. w/out royalty; $60,000 with.

 

6.    Equine Ma= gazine and Related Products. In business 25 year= s, profitable, owner is ready to retire. Strong following in their nic= he. Revenues steady, profits as well. Time for a new person to come in= and revamp the marketing and approach, even though solid social media= numbers, could use a new pair of eyes, in my opinion. More detailed i= nfo and forward projections and what=20 needs to be done, all available to review.

7.=     Civil War Information Records Books. Huge treasure tro= ve of information is all I can say. If you want to have the “Anc= estry level” of data about the Civil War and every participant, = location, and battle, THIS IS FOR YOU! The publisher was finally able = to give me a reasonably clean count of the total number of titles, rec= ords of families, battles,=20 chronologies, you name it. In fact, it wouldn’t take much to cre= ate an “Ancestry” type service about the people and places= of the war and charge subscriptions, in addition to book sales.

<= span style=3D"font-size: 16.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;">So far w= e are up to about 1,500+ titles. Most digital and a few physi= cal. This is an opportunity to add to your Civil War line and to creat= e/market over 1,500 eBooks if that is your thing. Or, create and marke= t over 1,500 physical. About 600 of the titles are now digitally for s= ale on Amazon and website.

<= span style=3D"font-size: 16.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt;">Bonus Tw= o is that of all these titles, only 600 of them have even bee= n put up for sale anywhere…and most of those within the last 12= -18 months, on Amazon only, so historic sales numbers are going to be = preliminary at best.

 

Inventory is close to $30K. Revenues are around $60K, ne= t around $35K. Asking on this one includes the value of having over 1,= 500 titles in Civil War information and the potential inherent in phys= ical and eBooks…  

Well, = for the moment, this is the list.

Yes, I= do have another half dozen or more listings available, but these are = the ones who have deadlines to sell this spring or sooner.
