  • with the latest gentoo build and make sure the USE
  • arlier gentoo build with xf3.3.6
  • I emerged xfree and media-video/ati-gatos, but whenever I try to start X with the config file made from Code: /usr/X11R6/bin/XFree -configure But all it does is turn to an off-black and hang. So I reboot with CTRL-ALT-DELETE and check out the log file. The ending of which is here: Quote: (II) Reloading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/libi2c.a (II) RADEON(0): I2C bus "Radeon multimedia bus" initialized. (II) RADEON(0): *** 0x8552c78 versus 0x8552c78 (II) RADEON(0): No video input capabilities detected (II) Loading sub module "theatre" (II) LoadModule: "theatre" (II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/multimedia/theatre_drv.o (II) Module theatre: vendor="The XFree86 Project" compiled for 4.2.0, module version = 1.0.0 ABI class: XFree86 Video Driver, version 0.5 Looks to me like it's screwing up ont he theatre_drv.o load, so I went to the ATI-Gatos site grabbed the latest source and compiled that to get a theatre_drv.o file. Move that over to /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/multimedia and try again. No go. I've tried quite a bit, but no go. Anyone know how to fix this?
