I think you need3ktk to make the running stitches with a perle cotton as in your inspiration k5y* photo.That will bring the eyes upward and give a little pizzazz in the yoke. I think you are correct...in that the trim may be too tightly gathered. Also, I think when you set the lace in the seam it makes it 1qsfet just naturally pootch out. Can you attach it on the outer part of the dress and usee5yjo5jy a little trim there? Or, as I look while I'm writing this...perhaps look under that area where the trim is, and see which way the seam is pressed. Try pressing the seam upwards and see what happens. If it looks good 5uy5eoythat way, you might top stitch that area...note, I said might... Just my thoughts, I'm sureq3rhtlp those more talented will come in and give you the7ii perfect answer.
