(Finally) moving along.

I note in passing that my shoulder surgery will take place on Tuesday 
the 18th. Hopefully, this will result in negligible disruption to the 
slow-moving meeting.  But if otherwise, I will try to have Nora let 
everyone know what the situation is.

All but one member (Paul Swift) seems to have indicated presence at the 
meeting.  Since we need unanimous presence to waive advance notice of 
the meeting, and such advance notice was not provided 15 days in advance 
by the Secretary, we are in the usual state of needing waiver of notice.

In this situation, quorum is established by presence of more than half 
of the existing membership, which I so certify based on postings by said 
members, I declare waiver of notice.  Such lack of notice primarily 
means that we cannot consider bylaw amendments.

9 non members have indicated presence at the meeting, and some of them 
have stated their intention to become members.  I have also asked mukti 
to attend the meeting, but s/he has not yet reported.

Minutes

Robin Powell, as Secretary/Treasurer has indicated in the past that he 
considers the logged message traffic of this mailing list to serve in 
lieu of formal meeting minutes.  If there is no objection to this, I 
will consider the reading of the minutes to be waived.

I will note per the work of mukti on the 2003 meeting, that this 
situation of not preparing and formally approving minutes can lead to 
lost information (in the case of that 2003 meeting, the exact text of 
various bylaw amendments has had to be guessed at).  We may want to do 
something about this.

Reports of Officers.

I have little to report as President, since I haven't been particularly 
active in part because of my irregular health problems.  I have 
continued to fill a small number of orders for CLL, as well as attempted 
to keep amazon.com well-supplied with books.  Amazon currently has 
around 35 books in stock which should last into next year; we have 
tended to average 6-10 copies per month sold.  I have two back-orders at 
present that I need to fill on my own - one from PayPal, and one 
received by mail early this year that I rediscovered last week; the 
money order not having been deposited.

There have also been 48 sales of the introductory book through Lightning 
Source.

I call upon Robin to report on the financial status as Treasurer, and 
people can ask questions of any of the officers at this time (including 
things not reported on)

Reports of committees

The only committees that have reported in recent years have been Robin, 
reporting as BPFK chairman, and Pierre Abbat, reporting on the committee 
to establish certification of Lojban skill levels.  I call on them, or 
anyone else, to report on any committee or project activity.

I will leave the floor open for reports, questions, or comments on any 
of the above topics until after my surgery.  Later next week we will 
take up the next agenda items which are the election of new members and 
the election of the Board of Directors for the coming year.
