I'll spare people the health details, and again apologize for the delays. I'm a little slow at the keyboard, but seem to be holding up. Assuming the meeting is still going at Xmas, I will call for a recess from the 23rd through the 28th. Discussion is fine during that period, but I will call no votes. > On 12/4/2014 10:24 AM, Riley Martinez-Lynch wrote: >> The meeting has been technically in session for more than a month now, >> with more than two weeks having past since the president called for >> reports, questions and comments on the topics of notice, quorum, >> minutes, officers and committees. Should it happen that I am again incapacitated and non-responsive, the proper approach is for the Vice President to step up and take the chair. If he does not do so, I am not sure that there is any valid approach under parliamentary procedure, until/unless someone calls for and invokes a special meeting per the bylaws (Article 3 section 5). The Board could also declare the officer positions vacant, and select new ones. >> I'd like to note that, along with nearly ten others who have expressed >> interest in joining the organization, I have no standing to actually >> participate in meeting business. Actually I would rule that you do. We've always encouraged non-members to participate. They cannot make motions or vote, but Article 3 section 10 allows them to speak on the record. I'd like to urge that new members be >> considered as soon as possible, so that the meeting may benefit from >> the candidates' initiative and full participation. That is indeed the next item on the agenda, per article 3 section 8. I will do so in a separate message. >> There is a motion on the floor, raised by Ali, to recognize the >> summaries of the 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 meetings as minute. When I recognize a second, I will allow 3 days for objection, or it will be passed by consent. >> Ali also moved to create a Project Manager position. I hope that the >> motion will be considered along with "new business", which is to say >> after new members have been admitted and can take part in the >> consideration. Indeed the motion is out of order until we reach "new business", but non-members can take part in any discussion period (and a time when the chair isn't operating is inherently a discussion period). I will note for those who may wish to think about the topic that LLG has no employees, nor any provision to hire any. Such decisions are loaded with legal and financial requirements that would be compounded if conducted internationally. More on this when we get to that part of the meeting. >> There's been a report from the LBCK (proficiency) committee. There is >> a call for a report from BPFK, which has not yet been answered. The Secretary/Treasurer has indicated to me in a private email that he is not actively participating in the meeting. As such, I would welcome it if you would take responsibility for producing minutes for this meeting. The following are his comments with respect to the BPFK. I know nothing about his reasons for the comments. > Frankly, I'm > planning on cutting my Lojban activity to a minimum once I'm > satisfied with CLL v1.1 as a published book. I'm just so > unimpressed with the community at this point that I'm kind of done. We already plan to have a discussion of the BPFK under Old Business, and can deal with this at that point. So I will rule that no report has been submitted. On to members and Board election. lojbab _______________________________________________ Llg-members mailing list Llg-members@lojban.org http://mail.lojban.org/mailman/listinfo/llg-members
