Content preview: I have seen no motion regarding Robin's report on CLL republication. Could someone make a motion indicating 1) a vote of confidence in Robin's decision-making with respect to the process of CLL republication (CLL 1.1), including those items that he asked about 2) authorizing expenditures up to some maximum by Robin or his delegatees for such republication, without need for approval of each such expenditure, up to some specified limit (I suggest $1000 to $2000 based on Robin's report), with a final report of such expenditures submitted to the Board. Proceeding with the meeting. Not to be included in such a motion, but worthy of discussion (after dealing with the motion), would be 1) if/how we want to advertise and/or promote the new release 2) whether the Lojban intro book needs to be amended or updated 3) whether we want to seek to publish Nick Nicholas/Robin Turner's textbook via Lightning Source, and whether it needs to be amended/updated (probably at least to include xorlo) 4) what will be the next step(s) following CLL 1.1, recognizing that Robin has indicated his intent to step down as jatna following that republication. This implicitly includes deciding what (if any) will be the future of the byfy, which is clearly not working as intended in the motion that created it (there is no clear membership at this point and will soon be no leader) Any/all of these topics are open for discussion at this time. Depending on how much discussion is desired on the topic of CLL and the future of byfy, I will suggest that we set up a live discussion on IRC at some fixed time. Because of the enormous range of time zones included in the membership, and the especial need to make sure Robin can participate, I am suggesting this live discussion take place on a Sunday. I am proposing 18 January at 8am Pacific Time, which I think is 3PM UT, and lasting for 2-3 hours maximum (if more is needed, additional discussions can be scheduled). This may still not be good for Ali or Oz, but I think that any time good for them will inherently be bad for others. Any motions which emerge from a live discussion will be decided as part of the regular order, via email, so as to make sure that no members are excluded from actual decisions. Note that we are not waiting until such a discussion period - discussion of these topics can start immediately, but a live session may shorten the needed discussion time enormously because of real time response. lojbab _______________________________________________ Llg-members mailing list Llg-members@lojban.org http://mail.lojban.org/mailman/listinfo/llg-members
