I would favor simple CC-BY, as CC-BY-SA prevent people from > incorporating just part of a work into your own (but too much to be > called fair use) and selling it to a publisher. For us, all publicity > is good publicity. That is the other side of the copyright problem, and we should adopt such a policy as you state, clarifying which stuff it applies to (which does not include writings and translations by people using the language). But right now, the problem is that people are putting things up on the LLG owned pages which are translations of copyrighted works. And there are several such works now up there, such as Berenstein Bears children's stories, and the much discussed Little Prince translation. There are also musical works in copyright that have been translated and are up on the music page. I don't know if any of the videos on YouTube have translations of copyrighted material. So far as I know, none of these people have sought permissions. I believe it was you who set an absolute policy of not linking to anything copyrighted (The Little Prince I think was one of those), and Robin supported you on that (as did I, but I wasn't running the website), but the website these days is being modified by all sorts of people who don't know or care about LLG policies. This sort of thing can get us in hot water in the US, but also in other countries like the UK who have even stronger copyright laws. lojbab _______________________________________________ Llg-members mailing list Llg-members@lojban.org http://mail.lojban.org/mailman/listinfo/llg-members
