August 14, 2006, Ms. Otis picked us up= but however, we were in a such a rush that I forgot the folder with my ID = in it. A voice told Ann to get quarters. (By the way, this is our firs= t train ride ever.)

=20

=20

Ann asked,"why?"

= =20

=20

The voice did not answered.

= =20

=20

"Come on, the train will be leavi= ng in two minutes" said Ms. Otis.

=20

=20

It was a= bout 6:58AM or maybe 7:58AM, I can not remember. We went into the car and M= s. Otis drove us to the train station. We hurried up on the rump and saw a = man. Ms. Otis told him that we are going to Vermont. He told us to hurry an= d get a seat because the train is leaving in one second. So, we got on the = train. The train left the station. The man came to us.

=20

=20

The man said," Can I see your ID?= "

=20

=20

Ann showed him hers but I could not.&n= bsp;

=20

=20

" You are in deep stuff", he= said to me.

=20

=20

Ann thought: What did I do wrong? What= did he mean by that?

=20

=20

I thought: What is going to happen?

=20

=20

At that = moment, I wanted to cry. I thought he was going to call the cops. So, every= time we stopped, I looked to see if there were cops waiting for me. We made= a stopped and I saw cops at the train station. I was getting ready for the= cops to come and get me. Finally, we took off and no cops. =20

=20

I thought: So, he did not call the cop= s.

=20

=20

That is a load off my shoulder.=

=20

=20

I thought: But why did he said that?

=20

=20

That is another load I still have to worry about. Along with, wh= ere to get off.

=20

=20

The train stopped and I was afraid if it was our stop. Ann asked= a woman if we were in Schenectady.

=20

=20

The woman said,"No, you still have a lot to go."

=20

=20

Finally, it was our stop. He came and told us we are here. We go= t our stuff and got off. The next train will come in a hour. We waited and = then the train came. Ann asked if I could get on the train if I did not hav= e my ID. He told us no. I realize what the man meant when he said that. It = means I was not going anywhere. Ann and I went downstairs with our suitcase= s and call someone. I had two quarters but the payphone needed more. W= e had to asked someone. Ann asked a woman and the woman gave some quar= ters. Now the rest is going to be a screenplay because that is how I w= rote when it actually happen.

=20

=20

Ann is dialing the phone number.(12:00pm)

=20

Ann hanged up the phone.

=20

=20

We are in Schenectady. We could not go to Vermont.=20

=20

Ann: "He said he call Connie and she has a car that does no= t need a lot of gas. He also called Ms. Otis."

=20

=20

Me: "What?!! What did she say?"

=20

=20

Ann: "Yea, she said that is crazy. She is gonna call t= hem. She bought the tickets. He said do not move. "

=20

=20

Ann is playing on her Nintendo DS.

=20

=20

A man came out of the train station. He is dialing on the phone,= smoking a cigar. I guessed no one answered.

=20

=20

A man: "Do you have change for a dollar?"=20

=20

Me: "No."(shook my head)

=20

=20

There is a little boy, a little girl, one man, and two girl= s walking. A man walk back inside. A train stopped. Ann and I look at it.

=20

=20

Ann: "Is that how it stops?"

=20

=20

Me: "I guess so, but never knew cuz we were on it."= ;

=20

=20

Ann: "It sounds like someone is s= creaming."

=20

=20

A man came out and he has change and a= newspaper.

=20

=20

One boy(18), a man, and a woman came o= ut of a green car. I think the boy is going to Vermont. They went inside.

=20

=20

Me: "That looks like Ronnie &= Bridget's van."

=20

=20

Ann: "Where?" (Looking aroun= d)

=20

=20

Me: "Right there."(pointing)=

=20

=20

The van move.

=20

=20

Me: "Oops... my bad. It's all whi= te."

=20

=20

Two girls got out of a car and she (cu= rly hair)got her suitcase. A old lady came out of the train station and got= into Relible Medacure car/van. A man just pull in with a blue car.<= /p>=20

=20

I'm thinking: I think it will take two= or three hours. (Connie & Fred to get here).

=20

=20

Two boys came riding on bikes.<= /p>=20

=20

The boy(16): "Who do you think? S= hana?"

=20

=20

A boy(12): "Definitely."

=20

=20

A boy: "What game are you playing= ?"

=20

=20

Ann: "Need for speed:Underground.= "

=20

=20

The boy: "Count to 20, slowly. &q= uot;

=20

=20

A boy: "Okay." (some seconds= went by)

=20

=20

A boy: "Okay, done."<= /p>=20

=20

The boy: "You didn't count to 20.= "

=20

=20

A boy: "Yes I did!"=20

=20

The boy: "You must've counted mad= fast then."

=20

=20

The boy call again. They left. Three g= irls came out of the train station. Well, a mother with her two daughters.&= nbsp;

=20

=20

A girl(curly orange hair): "Do yo= u think....that girl?"

=20

=20

The girl(black hair): "What girl?= " (Walking away)

=20

=20

Ann is listening to her walkman.

=20

=20

A guy came out: "Alright, right, = right." (he look at us)

=20

=20

It's almost 2:00pm. The boys came back= on the bikes. They left. Some people got on the bus. I saw a limousine. Tw= o men went into the train station.

=20

=20

Me: "I see a school bus."

=20

=20

Ann looked.

=20

=20

Me: "Which way do you..."(re= alizing Ann has headphones on)

=20

=20

Ann look at me(taking her headphones o= ff).

=20

=20

Ann: "What?"

=20

=20

Me: "Which way do you think he's coming from?"

=20

=20

Ann: "I don't know."

=20

=20

Two boys left different ways.

=20

=20

Me: "I guess 5:00pm, we will see them."

=20

=20

Ann: "Yea, me too."

=20

=20

I'm thinking: It kinda looks like Downtown in Syracuse.

=20

=20

Two cops came and asked us a lot of questions. <= /p>=20

=20

A guy came out.

=20

=20

A guy: "A train heading to Syracuse coming in 3 seconds. &q= uot;

=20

=20

We hurry up the stairs and made it. We got on the train. We fina= lly reach Syracuse and got off. We went home. That was one trip I won't for= get.

=20

=20

I remembered looking out the windo= w and seeing trees just passing by.

=20

=20

?Knick the Knight eyed the bottomless chasm ahead of him, aware = that certain death lay at the bottom,? Knick spoke to himself as he rocked = back and forth, armour clinking and clunking as he moved, preparing for the= leap of faith through darkness. ?He could hardly see the other side, but h= e knew it was the only way. He geared up, and?? Knick ran full tilt and lea= pt through the air, flying over the two foot fissure. Despite the short hop= , Knick stumbled on the landing, tweaking his bad knee, but quickly compose= d himself and raised both arms in the air. ?He sticks the landing!? Knick c= ircled slowly, ignoring the pain in his knee as he waved and smiled at the = cheering crowd he imagined.

=20

=20

?The hoard of treasure awaits, but so does the vicious dragon,? = Knick spoke as he slowly limped through the dark tunnel, each foot slowly r= eaching into the darkness to find sure footing. He lowered his voice to a w= hisper as he timidly stepped into a large cavern filled with what looked li= ke dunes of sand. ?Knick the Knight... on the verge of gaining honour and r= iches ? steps into the dragon's lair? ba-da-da-duh...? He murmured a catchy= hero tune and unsheathed his blade. Light filled the space from a source b= eyond his view around the craggy walls. As his eyes adjusted he saw the dun= es were not of sand, but of coins. Millions of small, golden coins piled hi= gh above and around Knick in heaps and piles. Jewels of sparkling colours s= prinkled throughout the mounds, twinkling as if calling out their worth, be= gging to be taken.

=20

=20

Knick's eyes widened as he walked around the slippery mess of co= ins, circling the area all while humming his theme song. He passed another = mound of gold and beheld the massive form of the dreaded dragon. The beast = was the size of four horses at best, his flank raising slowly in deep slumb= ering breaths. ?He approaches the beast, sword held high, ready to attack,?= Knick whispered then continued humming, eyes never leaving the slumbering = beast. The dragon almost blended into the coins with its yellow-gold scales= , but there was a muted feel to the scales. As if they haven't reflected su= nlight in ages.

=20

=20

?He steps towards the vile villain, sword grasped tightly, ready= to pierce the dragon in it's one weakness,? Knick's voice slowly rose from= a whisper to a conversational volume. ?Through its eye-?

=20

=20

?Through my eye!? The dragon suddenly spoke, its h= ead shooting into the air causing Knick to squeal loudly and trip over his = feet, losing his sword in the clumsy fall. The dragon gazed down over Knick= , ?Why would you stab me in my eye? What a terrible thing to = do!?

=20

=20

?How did you know I was here?? Knick asked while trying to hide = his trembling as he rose to his feet.

=20

=20

?You can't be serious?? Knick looked confused. ?Well you can't e= xactly sing a theme song as you try to sneak up on someone. Especially a cr= eature with exceptional hearing. I heard you before your leap of f= aith,? the dragon said mockingly. ?There are no chasms in this mountai= n.?

=20

=20

?I find humming soothing,? he defended himself as = he picked up his sword. ?It's not easy doing this all alone! Besides, it wo= rked just fine when I took down your massive guardian.?<= /a>

=20

=20

The dragon tilted his head, ?Guardian? What guardian??

=20

=20

?The giant spider-?

=20

=20

?Spider!? The dragon leapt several feet in the air and stomped a= round looking around his feet. ?Where? Where are the spiders??=20

=20

This time it was Knick who paused to stare at the dragon in disb= elief. ?You are afraid of spiders?? But the dragon was still circling his l= ittle nest of a bed. ?There aren't any spiders here. I killed this huge one= on my way into your lair. I thought it was a guardian s= ent by you.?

=20

=20

?Of course not!? Huffed the dragon as he settled back down, thou= gh his eyes kept darting around the ground. ?Filthy things,? he said as he = gave a small shudder. ?How big was this spider you fought?? The dragon eyed= Knick skeptically.

=20

=20

?Oh it was at least the size of a dog!? Knick said as he held hi= s hands two feet apart. ?I had just overcome this savage, thorned shrubbery= that almost took my sword? and my life?? Knick continued to = recount his trek in a theatrical tone as the dragon nodded along and added = ?Oh yes,? and, ?Oh, I'm sure? and then, ?How dreadful,? with a few nods and= eye rolls in there.

=20

=20

?... and then I found myself here and since you are awake and ..= alive, I suppose I am ready for your riddles.? Knick stood up tall with h= is hands on his waist, ready for another challenge.

=20

=20

?What riddles?? The dragon stopped picking at his claws to look = at Knick.

=20

=20

?You know? The riddles that you challenge me to solve and if I g= et all correct I get your hoard of treasure,? Knick gestured to the mounds = of gold, ?... Those riddles.? Knick's chest deflated at the blank look the = dragon gave him. Then the dragon threw back his massive head and roared in = booming laughter that bounced off the cavern walls and echoed throughout th= e massive chamber creating a cacophony of laughing beasts.  <= /span>

=20

=20

?You think,? the dragon managed to get out between chortles, ?yo= u think? I would just give you all of this= ? I would just hand over a kingdom's = worth of treasure?? the dragon was gasping for breath as another bout of la= ughter hit him. ?Just because you answer some riddles that I already know t= he answers to?? The dragon huffed as he composed himself once more. ?Honest= ly you knights are becoming worse and worse, expecting things to just b= e handed over to you.? He gave a small chuckle. ?Just fo= r some riddles,? he muttered and shook his head. ?Ridiculous.?

= =20

=20

Knick had composed himself from the in= dignant response and raised his sword towards the beast and said proudly, ?= Then I shall vanquish you! You foul-smelling beast! Then I shall take these= riches to the king!?

=20

=20

?Preposterous!? Huffed the dragon as h= e settled further into his nest of coins, not in the least bit worried abou= t the weapon.

=20

=20

?You don't think I could take you? I have been training for deca= des for this very moment!? Knick got into a fighting stance but stayed wher= e he was.

=20

=20

?No, I mean preposterous that I smell. I have= actually bathed in the past day. Though I doubt you cou= ld say the same,? the dragon waved a claw in front of his snout. ?Besides, = what were you intending to do once you've brutally slain= me, eh? Carry out all this gold in your many hidden pockets?? He chuckled,= eyeing the knight's armour. ?What's your armour for anyway??=20

=20

?Protection, obviously.? Knick gestured to his plated armour.&nb= sp;

=20

=20

?From what, exactly? My teeth and claws will pierce that easily,= and against my flames-  it'll only make you cook faster, albeit more = evenly, inside all that metal.?

=20

=20

Knick swallowed audibly then gave a smirk, ?At least I'= m not afraid of spiders!?

=20

=20

?Humpf,? the dragon huffed indignantly, giving off a puff of bla= ck smoke through his nostrils. ?Well, you seem a little old&n= bsp;to still be a knight. You're what? 50??

=20

=20

Knick stood up straighter, ?I am 45, not that it matters! Age on= ly comes with wisdom!?

=20

=20

?And a bad knee,? joked the dragon. ?You know it's not disgracef= ul to hang up your sword. If you've truly spent all your life training for = knighthood, perhaps it's time for a change. Before it's too late and you ca= n't even walk. Go out and have an adventure! A safe adventure. Get married,= ha! There's an adventure. Have children to raise and pass on your wisd-...= to pass on your sword.?

=20

=20

?What about you? You're older than me, obviously." The drag= on snorted at that. "What are you doing here?? Knick had sheathed his = sword and started pacing.

=20

=20

?I like shinies,? replied the dragon sheepishly. Then he cleared= his throat and said seriously, ?I was tasked with guarding this trove many= eons ago. The legends of the dragon-guarded treasure is ?? the dragon = faded off and sighed deeply. ?Perhaps I am in need of a change as well.?

=20

=20

?And get married?? Asked Knick jokingl= y.

=20

=20

The dragon gave a roar of laughter at = that. ?That might be too much of an adventure for me.? The dragon eyed Knic= k in his armour. ?Why are you a knight??

=20

=20

?I've always been a knight,? Knick ans= wered and sat down heavily on a small pile of coins. ?It's my whole life. M= y identity. I don't know what I would do if I wasn't a knight.?

= =20

=20

?Well, what do you enjoy doing?? The d= ragon asked patiently.

=20

=20

The knight sat there on the mound of g= old and questioned his passions in life. ?I love to garden,? he admitted. ?= Watching the little flowers grow, and being responsible for their care. It = feels so rewarding.?

=20

=20

The dragon looked skeptical of the kni= ght taking on the responsibility of living things but didn't question him.<= /span>

=20

=20

?I mean, I've only managed to grow som= e flowers on purpose a few years back. But ? maybe I can learn?? He asked l= ooking up to the golden eyes before him.

=20

=20

The dragon gave a knowing, and rather toothy, smile and sighed a= s he stood up. ?Gardening sounds like a great path for you. It might take s= ome work. Starting a new career path at your age, or any age really, can se= em daunting. Overwhelming even. It can feel like a real leap of faith. Unli= ke that leap you took to reach this cavern.?

=20

=20

The knight smiled and flushed. ?Come,? said the dragon as he tur= ned and walked towards, what Knick realized, was a massive cave mouth just = around the corner from where they were sitting.

=20

=20

?There's a door to this place?? The kn= ight asked incredulously.

=20

=20

?It's how most knights come in to chal= lenge me for the treasure,? chuckled the dragon.

=20

=20

They walked slowly towards the mouth o= f the mountain, the stalactites forming teeth waiting to devour the next kn= ight to dare enter the lai= r. ?What about you,? asked Knick. ?What are you going to do??=20

=20

?I plan to retire,? said the dragon as he shuffled along the dir= ty ground, now clear of coins. ?I have been guarding this trove for decades= , perhaps centuries now. The thing about holding onto your treasures too ti= ghtly, is you get rather lonely. These coins and jewels were nice for a whi= le, but I think I shall fly north to the mountains to find others of my kin= d.?

=20

=20

?That sounds peaceful. Easier than trying to start a new job pat= h. Growing plants sounded great at first, but I am not sure I can handle th= e change.?

=20

=20

?If you plant your roots in the idea of change and learn how to = absorb the nutrients of knowledge and experience, then I know you will grow= into something worthwhile.?

=20

=20

The knight turned, dumbfounded, towards the dragon and gestured = down to his body, ?I dunno? I think I've grown as much as I will.?

=20

=20

The beast gave another rumbling roar of laughter as the dragon a= nd knight walked out of the cave together, ready to face change. <= /span>
