Dear FBA Seller,
 
Effective February 4, 2013, inventory that you ship to Amazon will be included in the Fulfillment by Amazon Distributed Inventory Placement program. This means that by default units of a single Merchant SKU may be assigned to multiple fulfillment centers during the shipment creation process. The purpose of this change is to help better position inventory to reach customers at the delivery speeds they choose. We anticipate that both you and customers who purchase your products will benefit from this change for multiple reasons, including the following: 

- Products located in multiple fulfillment centers can provide an advantage over products located in a single fulfillment center. Order cut-off times for Prime and expedited shipping can be extended, so your offers will more likely be available for last-minute orders in more locations. 

- Products can be available for fulfillment to many customers sooner than if you shipped them to one fulfillment center, and we then transported them to other fulfillment centers.   

- The impact of regional and local events on your products may be reduced.  

We recognize that every business is unique, and a range of inbound shipping solutions may be required for you and your suppliers. Within your FBA account settings, you can choose from the following options: 

- Distributed Inventory Placement (default setting): During the shipment creation process, Amazon will determine the distribution of your inventory among one or more fulfillment centers. This may include multiple shipments for individual Merchant SKUs.   

- Inventory Placement Service: During the shipment creation process, all quantities of a single Merchant SKU will be assigned to a single fulfillment center determined by Amazon. In addition, subject to certain exception, most Standard-Size products will be combined into the same shipment. A per-unit service fee applies.
