Reminder about bundling boxes

Adhering to our prep and shipping requirements is a simple way to improve the receiving time in our fulfillment centers. Our shipping and routing requirements state that boxes should not be bundled together using bagging, taping, elastic, or extra straps. Shipments that are received in this manner are sidelined during the receiving process so they can be separated. This delays the receiving process for your inventory. Please do not bundle or tether your boxes together.

Visit the FBA Shipping and Routing Requirements help page for more information.

Simplify tracking multiple shipments with bulk uploads

Shipment tracking numbers can now be uploaded in bulk above the Shipping Queue in Seller Central as soon as they are ready for pick up from the carrier. Simply click the "Upload Shipment Notification File" link.

Tracking numbers can also be submitted through Amazon Marketplace Web Services (MWS). To learn more about MWS, go to Fulfillment Inbound Shipment API. MWS is only available to Pro Merchant sellers.

For more information about the Shipment Notification File Upload, see How to Bulk Upload Shipment Tracking Numbers.

Simpler Sales Tax reporting

A new Sales Tax report replaces the Customer Taxes report and details all transactions for states where you have elected to collect sales tax. Now you can view data for a complete year in a single report. The new report also contains taxes paid at a district level, and if you are also an MFN seller, you will be happy to know, you can get information on your MFN and FBA transactions in a single location. The existing FBA Customer Taxes Report will be available through April 2013, with transactions captured only through February 28, 2013. But you can start using the new Sales Tax report, which contains all transactions for 2013 to date, to track your transactions.

April 2013 Newsletter

Greetings from Fulfillment by Amazon

With Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) in your corner, you have access to an ever-growing suite of features and services designed to help optimize your FBA business and increase your revenue. Taking advantage of services like FBA Export and Amazon Selling Coach are great steps toward increasing the synergy generated between great products, great customers and superior logistics. We spend countless hours talking to sellers to discover what we can do better, so your FBA experience is the best it can be. Check out what we have been up to this month.

And now for the News

FBA to launch unplanned services option on May 21

On May 21, 2013, FBA will launch unplanned services, a new option for when you are unable to prep or package your products yourself, and do not choose a planned service such as the FBA Label Service. Unplanned services may include activities we perform such as labeling, bagging, poly bagging, and taping in order to make products ready for safe and efficient storage and delivery. Performing these tasks unexpectedly on your behalf affects our processes and can cause costly delays in making products available to customers, which in turn affects your ability to sell your products quickly.

Beginning May 21, 2013, we will introduce an Unplanned Service Fee for units requiring labels, if those units are received with barcode labels missing, and you have not chosen to use the FBA Label Service. To give you more time to understand the potential impact on your business, beginning April 2, 2013 we will display the unplanned Labeling services we perform on your behalf and preview the fees within your Seller Central account.

See the help page for information about Unplanned Service Fee.

FBA sellers can now see reimbursement details in Seller Central Payments reports

In response to Seller feedback we have made changes to make understanding your FBA inventory reimbursements easier. New details in the Seller Central Payments reports make it simple to identify reimbursement transactions and understand the reason and corresponding order (if applicable) for which you are being reimbursed.
New reimbursement details include:

  • Instead of "Balance Adjustment," reimbursements will be identified as an "FBA Inventory Reimbursement."
  • Reimbursement details will include an amount, a reason for the reimbursement, a Reimbursement ID that matches the entry in your FBA Reimbursement Report, the applicable customer order, and item details.
  • Reimbursements that were previously grouped in a single transaction, because they happened for the same reason, will now be reported separately throughout the day.

You can see these changes in the Payments section of Seller Central in the Transaction View, Transaction Details View, and all versions of the Settlement Report.
