Reminder: FBA launches unplanned services option on May 21

Beginning May 21, 2013, units requiring labels that are received with barcode labels missing will be charged the Unplanned Service Fee if you have chosen not to use the FBA Label Service. To help improve your inbound shipments, we are surfacing more inbound problem types to sellers within Seller Central. Currently, the Unplanned Service Fee will only be charged for problem type barcode labels missing.

Magnetized materials and other products now eligible for Fulfillment by Amazon

Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) has changed its shipping policies to now allow automotive shocks and struts, refrigerators, teeth whitening strips and certain products with magnetized materials, including many speakers and subwoofers. Sellers with offers for these products will now have access to Amazon's world-class fulfillment network and free two-day shipping to Amazon Prime customers.

Please note, however, that any products you send to FBA must comply with the FBA Service Terms, including policies regarding Hazardous Materials, Dangerous Units, and FBA Prohibited Products and all applicable laws. For more information, see the FBA Prohibited Products help page.

Welcome to the May 2013 edition of the FBA Newsletter!

Twice a year, the FBA team reaches out to many of our Sellers with a survey to gauge satisfaction and get input to inform future development of the FBA service. We are excited to report that in the Q2 2013 survey, 93% of sellers who responded found that their sales increased after joining FBA. Sellers also indicated that the top three reasons they choose to use FBA are to increase sales on Amazon.com, gain access to Prime customers and to save time. We are delighted with the positive feedback as well as the many suggestions you made on how we can improve the service to continue to help you grow your business.

Now for some updates

FBA launching new Seller Central prep resources in US and CA

To help FBA sellers improve their inbound shipments, the FBA team began surfacing more inbound problem types to sellers within Seller Central.

Several new prep resources are being surfaced to you within Seller Central. If your products are received at Amazon fulfillment centers with certain types of insufficient prep, you will now see one of the following problem types:

  • Poly bagging required
  • Bubble wrap required
  • Opaque poly bagging required
  • Suffocation warning label required
  • Taping required

The message will state the prep problem and provide guidance on how to avoid this issue in the future.

As part of this effort, the Merchant Inbound Coaching tools are being renamed:

  • Merchant Inbound Coaching is now Inbound Performance Feedback.
  • The Inbound Compliance Summary is now the Inbound Performance Summary.
  • The Inbound Compliance Report is now the Inbound Performance Report.
