Planning for Long-Term Storage—August 15 deadline

Now's a good time to check your fulfillment center inventory and, if necessary, remove any old inventory or re-price it to sell in order to make room for your holiday inventory. The next FBA Inventory Cleanup will be conducted on August 15, 2013. Inventory that has been in our fulfillment centers for 365 days or more as of August 15, 2013, will be assessed a Long-Term Storage Fee.

Go to Fulfillment by Amazon Settings to set up Automated Long-Term Storage Removals (sign in required).

You can also use the Recommended Removal report to easily identify and remove Units that may be assessed Long-Term Storage Fees. This report auto-calculates on an ASIN-by-ASIN basis the number of Units you would need to remove (assuming no further sales of your inventory) to avoid Long-Term Storage Fees, and it will pre-populate a removal request for those Units if you choose to remove them.

You can access the Recommended Removal report in your Seller Account by going to Reports > Fulfillment > Inventory > Recommended Removal and requesting a download. If you receive a "No results found" message when you run the Recommended Removals report, it means that you have no inventory that will be charged the Long-Term Storage fee.

For fees and more information go to FBA Long-Term Storage.

  • Bubble wrap required

  • Opaque poly bagging required

  • Suffocation warning label required

  • Taping required

Don’t worry, though—we haven’t made any changes to the way we treat your products in our fulfillment centers, and there are currently no additional fees associated with these problems. We’re simply providing more information to help you understand when issues arise and how to solve them. For more information, please visit Inbound Performance Feedback (sign in required).

Optimize Prices with the FBA Revenue Calculator and Fee Preview

Many sellers have used the FBA Revenue Calculator as a measuring stick to compare revenue generated using their own fulfillment methods versus Fulfillment by Amazon. You can also use the FBA Revenue Calculator to help forecast how much revenue you may be able to generate over time when you sell products through FBA. Finally, adjust these variables to get to the price point that will help you optimize your product price.

This can also be a useful tool if you have excess inventory that you need to sell through. It will help you identify how low you can go and still make money.

Try the FBA Revenue Calculator.
