Organize your shipment preparation with the new Shipment Checklist

When sending your products to FBA, it's important to ensure that your boxes can be received quickly, and that your units can be ready for customer orders as soon as they are received and processed in the fulfillment center.

The Shipment Checklist is a one-page PDF that you can print and have at your workstations when you are preparing your shipments. Use the checklist to audit your shipments and make sure that each action is during the shipment preparation process–from prepping your individual units to packaging your shipping boxes or building your pallets. It also includes a list of recommended materials to use while preparing your units and shipping boxes for transport.

You can access the Shipment Checklist by going to the Resources section of FBA Help and looking for Packaging and Shipping Inventory to Amazon.

July 2013 Newsletter

Greetings from Fulfillment by Amazon

Welcome to the August 2013 edition of the FBA Newsletter!

In July, we stayed true to our relentless commitment to your success by rolling out new features designed to help you get the most out of your FBA reports and keep your inventory healthy. We have also upgraded and updated some existing features based on seller feedback so that our tools help you run your business in the most efficient way possible. We are always on the hunt for the next exciting innovation that will make our sellers' lives easier. As you work diligently on your business, just know that you are not alone out there. FBA is in your corner!

Now for some updates

Replenishment Alerts System Updated to Include Weeks-of-Cover Threshold

We recently rolled out a small, but important update to the Replenishment Alerts system.

Until now, you could only set a quantity threshold that would trigger a notification to replenish your inventory. However, we recognize that many sellers manage their inventory in terms of weeks of cover, so we have now enabled an additional option to set a threshold based on weeks of cover.

Note: Weeks of cover is calculated by dividing your current fulfillable inventory by your average weekly sales over the past 30 days. Using this formula will enable your thresholds to flex with seasonality, which helps ensure consistent inventory for your products.

You can manage these new replenishment alerts the same way as before:

  • Go to the Manage FBA Inventory page (sign-in required).
  • Select the products for which you would like to set an alert.
  • From the Apply to Selected Item(s) drop-down menu, select Set Replenishment Alert and click Go.
  • Set threshold types for the products in your inventory.

For more information, visit FBA Replenishment Alerts.

New Fulfillment Reports Upgrades Announced

We've updated the Amazon Fulfillment Reports page to deliver a more consistent reporting experience across Seller Central, improve discoverability and usage of fulfillment reports, and reduce the number of clicks to access data.

Fulfillment reports have been moved to a left-hand panel, which makes reports easier to find and access. Additionally, helpful reporting tips now appear on the right-hand side to keep you up-to-date on how to get the most out of your FBA reports.

We also launched an online version of the Removal Order Detail report. The new online version gives you access to your removal order history without having to download a file. The report provides information for removal orders including the order type, order status, and quantities removed.

To see these exciting enhancements for yourself, visit the new Amazon Fulfillment Reports (sign-in required). Be sure to share your feedback by clicking the Tell us how we’re doing link at the top of the page.

Provide Controlled Access to Your Account with New FBA User Permissions

Now you can allow other members of your organization—or even outside vendors—access to FBA reports and tools in your Seller Central account while restricting access to potentially sensitive business information.

Go to Settings > User Permissions to edit your existing secondary user permissions and also invite others to have access. When you edit permissions, there are now three FBA-specific permission settings you can adjust:

  • Inventory > Manage FBA Inventory/Shipments
  • Reports > Fulfillment Reports
  • Settings > Fulfillment Settings

You can give tiered access to users based on permissions for these specific areas of your Seller Central Account, from no access to read-only access and full access.

We are happy to be able to provide these new permission levels and hope they will help you to delegate some of your day-to-day activities to employees, vendors, or other members of your organization, while restricting access to potentially sensitive business information.

More Enhancements to the New Shipment Creation Workflow

Since the introduction of the new shipment creation workflow in April, we've continued to roll out new features, and sellers using the new workflow have experienced many benefits including:

  • A significant reduction in inbound performance problems
  • Quicker resolutions for inbound performance problems
  • Improved receive times at our fulfillment centers

When you switch to the new shipment creation workflow, all of your existing shipments will switch with you. And if you choose to switch back, both old and new shipments will switch with you.

You asked, we listened

One of the keys to making this transition successful has been the improvements we've been able to make based on feedback from sellers like you, several of which have been introduced within the last few months. Here are three new feature improvements that can make shipment creating easier for you:

Downloadable Pack List: This new feature enables you to download a list of ASINs and quantities for each shipment you create making it easier than ever to confirm the accuracy of your shipments.

Review and Modify: This handy button under Prepare Shipments makes updating your quantities quick and easy. Did you miscount your units? Click the Review and Modify Units button and update your quantities on the spot.

Combine Labeled and Stickerless, Commingling Inventory: The new workflow enables you to combine labeled inventory with stickerless, commingled inventory into a single shipment when going to the same fulfillment center.

Avoid the Long-Term Storage Fee with New Automated Removal Options

The August 15 Inventory Clean Up is right around the corner. If you have units in our fulfillment centers that have been there more than 365 days, you probably received a reminder e-mail to remove these units before the Long-Term Storage Fee is charged. Enabling Long-Term Storage Removals can help save you time and avoid the Long-Term Storage Fees by automatically managing these aged units for you.

You can now include price limits on your Long-Term Storage returns and disposals. For example, you can have all units priced over $20.00 returned to you and everything below that price disposed of automatically without having to create return or disposal orders yourself. We hope this new feature will make it more convenient to manage your aged inventory and avoid the Long-Term Storage Fee. Enable these new settings at Settings > Fulfillment by Amazon > Long-Term Storage Removals.

Also, don’t forget that you can track your removal order status and shipments with two new reports, Removal Order Detail and Removal Shipment Detail.

Export Your Products and Expand Your Business

The easiest way to test the international appeal of your products is simply to enable your eligible listings to be available for shipping to customers around the world. If you use FBA, all it takes is a couple of clicks and a signature to enable FBA Export. When you use FBA Export, Amazon automatically makes your eligible listings available for sale and fulfillment to customers in over 65 countries (and counting). Go to Manage FBA Inventory > International Shipping > Sign Up for FBA Global Export to sign up.

If you fulfill some orders yourself, you can enable some of your media (books, movies, videos, and DVDs) and non-media products to be eligible for international sale. To enable the products you fulfill yourself you will need to set your international shipping rates. Learn more about Configuring Your Shipping Rates and Restrictions for orders you fulfill yourself.
