Streamlined shipment creation and inventory management tools

Hello Logical Language Group,

Happy New Year! Over the last several months, we've made some important additions to Seller Central based on feedback from FBA sellers like you. These changes streamline two key sets of tasks: shipment creation and inventory management.

Now that we’re able to offer these improved tools, starting today, important new Seller Central enhancements will only be made available through the new shipment creation and inventory tools. We’ll be phasing out the original shipment workflow on March 31, 2014. Here’s a look at what’s changing and why you should switch to the new tools today.

Improved shipment creation

Last year, we introduced the new Shipment Creation Workflow, featuring a complete redesign to improve ease of use, reduce steps, and better align with Amazon requirements for shipments to our fulfillment centers. Since our beta launch, we received valuable feedback from sellers to improve this workflow, and we’ve made the shipment creation process even better.

Recent updates in response to seller feedback include the Duplicate Shipment feature, which allows you to clone and make adjustments to a previous shipment, the Add Items to Shipment feature to easily add additional products to a shipment just after creation, and new compatible shipping plan file templates for uploading details of larger shipments.

Sellers using the new Shipment Creation Workflow recently have experienced the following benefits:

  • Shipment tracking and research tools: The popular Shipment Reconciliation Tool—exclusively available in the new Shipment Creation Workflow—helps you quickly spot shipment problems and get answers faster when you believe there are discrepancies.
  • Fewer shipments encountering issues: Sellers using the new Shipment Creation Workflow have seen 18% fewer shipments delayed due to unplanned product prep and packaging, which in turn can reduce costs and receiving times.
  • Access to on-demand product prep services: Save time in preparing your products for shipment to customers. Already, sellers using the new workflow have chosen prep services for tens of millions of units.
  • Integration with upload templates: Upload details of larger shipments using shipping plan file templates that are fully compatible with the new Shipment Creation Workflow’s other features, such as prep services and a downloadable pack list to help you or your team pack the right item in the right box.

...and more.

Switch to the new Shipment Creation Workflow

The new Shipment Creation Workflow will replace the original shipment workflow in Seller Central on March 31, 2014. But don’t delay your switch—access to new Seller Central enhancements and services that we launch in the coming months will be available exclusively through the new Shipment Creation Workflow.

Streamlined Amazon inventory management

In addition to the changes mentioned above, key inventory management features have been consolidated in a single view on the Manage Inventory page. This means you no longer have to go to the Manage FBA Inventory page for your FBA listings and separately to the Manage Inventory page for your self-fulfilled Amazon listings, and you can preview Selling on Amazon and/or Fulfillment by Amazon fees for all your listings in one place.

We’ll continue to add new functionality to the Manage Inventory page so you'll soon be able to do everything you're accustomed to doing on the Manage FBA Inventory page, and more. The Manage FBA Inventory page will be retired later this year.

Do I need to do anything?

Switch to the new Shipment Creation Workflow now (sign-in required) or watch our video. You’ll still be able to do everything that you’ve been accustomed to doing in the existing tools. Any shipments that you have created in the old workflow will automatically be available in the new workflow, so you won’t lose any data in this transition. If you have been using the Shipping Plan File Upload Tool for uploading larger shipments, you will also need to download a template file that is compatible with the new Shipment Creation Workflow.

To take advantage of the integrated inventory management tools, simply visit the Manage Inventory page (sign-in required).

Note: If you integrate directly with our APIs through Marketplace Web Services (MWS), APIs remain unchanged. We’re continually improving the MWS experience to provide access to more FBA services—for instance, with the recent launch of our APIs for Amazon-Partnered Carrier shipping rates.

Switch to the new Shipment Creation Workflow

Sincerely,

The Fulfillment by Amazon Team
