Greetings from Fulfillment by Amazon

What do you need to do to get your business ready for the Amazon holiday selling season? Now is the time to forecast your sales and make sure you have a plan to send inventory replenishments throughout the upcoming months with plenty of time to be stowed and available for holiday purchases. This month we feature articles that can help you improve your end-of-year sales.

Uploading Box-Level Details When Preparing U.S. Shipments

FBA is now asking you to help us receive your U.S. shipments faster by providing more detail for your Small Parcel Delivery (SPD) shipments through a .csv upload.

In the Prepare Shipment step of the Shipment Creation Workflow, you will be asked to provide the number of boxes with the quantity of each ASIN per box for your shipments. Providing this information, when combined with ongoing improvements to our fulfillment center capabilities, helps us to dramatically reduce the time between when the carrier delivers your shipment and when your products are available for sale.

Learn more about how to provide this helpful information on the Prepare Shipment Help page.

Meltable Inventory Accepted Beginning Oct. 1

Amazon limits receipt and storage of meltable inventory (such as chocolates) to October 1 through April 30 each year in order to create the best customer buying experience.

If you have meltable inventory to sell this season, make sure your first shipments arrive in Amazon fulfillment centers no sooner than October 1.

For more details, including other restrictions on temperature-sensitive products, visit the Date- and Temperature-Sensitive Products Help page.

FBA Launches New Repackaging Service for Customer Returns in U.S.

Has this happened to you? You sell a product through FBA, and your customer returns the order. You submit a removal order to get the returned unit back to your warehouse—and you realize the product only needed new shrink wrap to make it sellable again.

Now, just in time for the holiday selling season, we can help you get this type of returned inventory back online quickly—without the hassle and cost of removal and shipping back to our fulfillment centers in a new shipment.

With the new FBA Repackaging Service in the U.S., we’ll repackage eligible customer returns so they can be sold as new. You can enable this service for certain categories on your FBA Repackaging Settings in your FBA Settings in Seller Central (sign-in required).

There is currently no charge to use the FBA Repackaging Service, but we will let you know when we intend to begin charging for repackaging in the future.

Once enabled, you will be able to see the repackaging status of your customer returns in the new “Status” column of the Returns report.

To see the eligible categories and to learn more about this service, please visit the FBA Repackaging Service Help page.

Prep for a Better Holiday Selling Season This Year

If you want to make sure your holiday selling season goes off without a hitch, one of the best things you can do is audit your product prep processes. In the activity of Black Friday or Cyber Monday, receiving delays at the fulfillment center can hurt, so make sure your products are being prepped according to FBA’s packaging and prep requirements. Here are a few issues that our associates at the fulfillment center say can have a serious impact on your receive time:

  1. Items with no scannable barcodes. Products should have scannable barcodes, and labels should be placed flat, covering the original barcode.
  2. Shipments sent to wrong fulfillment centers. Sending the right quantities of product to the fulfillment centers designated during shipment creation helps ensure that your items are available to customers faster.
  3. Planned quantities don’t match Purchase Order. Double-check that each item is listed on the Purchase Order in the correct quantity.
  4. Fragile products sent unprotected. Fragile items must withstand a 3-foot drop. Wrap these products individually with bubble-wrap and place a scannable barcode label on the outside of the packaging.

Please review prep guidelines to ensure that our fulfillment center associates can receive your shipments efficiently and safely. Read our product label requirements or watch our video tutorials.

For Amazon-compliant poly bags, boxes, stretch wrap, bubble wrap, tape, and more, browse the supplies at the Amazon-Preferred Product Prep & Shipping Supplies store.
