Don't Forget Important Holiday Shipping Dates

Many Amazon customers shop for FBA products until the final possible second before the holidays.

Even if your FBA inventory is ready and waiting for these buyers, it's wise to keep in mind the expected shipping cutoff dates on which you may expect customers to place orders to ensure delivery before December 25:

  • December 17: Standard Shipping for urban areas (Canada)
  • December 18: Express and Priority Shipping for urban areas (Canada)
  • December 19: Standard Shipping (U.S.)
  • December 22: Two-Day Shipping (Canada urban areas and U.S.)
  • December 23: One-Day Shipping (Canada urban areas and U.S.)
  • December 24: Same-Day Delivery (Canada urban areas and U.S.)

Now is also the time to determine which of your ASINs you should replenish ahead of increasing demand. For help, you may want to check out resources such as the Selling Coach Inventory in Stock report (sign-in required) and the Amazon Fulfilled Inventory report (sign-in required).

And if you haven't already, consider downloading our 2014 FBA Holiday Calendar—now also available for the Amazon.ca marketplace—to keep track of important upcoming shipping dates.

U.S. Fee Changes Begin on February 18, 2015

On December 3, 2014, we announced that we will adjust FBA rates in the U.S. to reflect the changing costs of fulfillment, transportation, and customer service and to align with announced changes to industry standards. To give you time to plan for these fee changes, they will take effect beginning February 18, 2015, after the holiday selling season.

Here is a summary of the upcoming fee changes:

Effective February 18, 2015

  • Fulfillment Fees: Pick & Pack and Weight Handling Fees will increase across all product sizes and weights.
  • Dimensional Weight threshold: We will adjust when we apply Dimensional Weight—a calculation based on a unit's cubic volume. Currently, if the unit's volume is greater than 5,184 cubic inches, Fulfillment Fees are calculated based on the greater of Dimensional Weight or unit weight. Effective February 18, 2015, we will remove the 5,184-cubic-inch threshold. Instead, we will calculate Fulfillment Fees and fees for the optional Inventory Placement Service based on the greater of Dimensional Weight or unit weight for Large Standard-Size Non-Media units weighing more than 1 lb. and for all Small, Medium, and Large Oversize units.

Effective March 1, 2015

  • Monthly Inventory Storage Fee: Monthly Inventory Storage Fees will increase for Standard-Size units and decrease for Oversize units. This change will first be reflected in April charges for storage in March.

Beginning with August 15, 2015, fee-assessment date

  • Long-Term Storage Fee: This fee is currently assessed semi-annually on February 15 and August 15 on units that have been in Amazon fulfillment centers for 12 months or more. On August 15, 2015, units that have been in Amazon fulfillment centers between 6 and 12 months will also be subject to the Long-Term Storage Fee, at a rate of $11.25 per cubic foot.

Fees for Order Handling, Zero-Fee Fulfillment, Multi-Channel Fulfillment, and FBA Prep Services are not affected by these changes and will continue to apply where applicable.

In the coming weeks, we will provide a way for you to view your estimated Fulfillment Fees using the FBA Revenue Calculator, the Fee Preview under Manage Inventory (sign-in required), or the Fee Preview report (sign-in required). For more information on the 2015 FBA fee changes, including full rate cards, definitions, and examples, please visit http://amazon.com/fba-fee-changes. We welcome your feedback on these changes at us-fba-fee-announce-feedback@amazon.com.
