Greetings from Fulfillment by Amazon

When we say "fulfillment," we're often talking about logistics—seeing that products take the simplest path from seller to buyer, domestically or internationally.

But we're also talking about satisfaction. Contentment. The pleasure that comes with being a part of a process that works, and works for you.

Check out these tips and feature updates to ensure you are taking advantage of everything Fulfillment by Amazon has to offer for your selling business.

Reminder: Remove meltable inventory by May 1

FBA accepts products that are subject to melting (such as chocolates) between October 1 and April 30 of each calendar year. Submit a removal order to have your unsold meltable inventory returned to you or disposed of prior to May 1.

Be advised that removals can take 10 to 14 business days to pick, pack, and process. For more information, visit the Date- and Temperature-Sensitive Products help page.

You also can enable Automated Unfulfillable Removals. When you do so, your eligible unfulfillable units in Amazon's fulfillment centers will be automatically removed—either returned or disposed of—on the schedule you select. For more information, visit the FBA Automated Unfulfillable Removals help page.

FBA shipping label now includes more information

You may have noticed a slight change to the labels that you print for shipments to Amazon fulfillment centers.

Each seller's legal name has been added to the "ship to" address on printed Fulfillment by Amazon shipping labels. It now appears in the first line of the "ship to" address, following "FBA."

This change will not impact your shipping procedures, but it should help ensure that your shipment reaches its Amazon destination.

U.S. storage-fee changes take effect

U.S. Monthly Inventory Storage Fees changed on March 1, 2015. These changes were first reflected in April charges for storage in March.

Please note: Effective August 15, 2015, inventory that has been in an Amazon fulfillment center in the U.S. for six to 12 months will be subject to a Long-Term Storage Fee, as first announced in December. This is in addition to the August 15 fee assessment for units that have been in fulfillment centers for 365 days or more.

For more information on the 2015 FBA fee changes, including fee schedules, definitions, and examples, please visit http://www.amazon.com/fba-fee-changes.

How do reimbursements work?

Amazon reimburses you for inventory that is either lost or damaged while it is in transit via an Amazon partnered carrier, in a fulfillment center, or being delivered to a customer. As reimbursement, we will either:

  • Replace the item with another with the same FNSKU and in the same condition, or
  • Pay you the replacement value of your lost inventory, less any applicable fees.

If we find an item for which you've already received a credit to your account, we'll either:

  • Use the found item to satisfy any future claim that you may have for that product, or
  • Reverse the credit that was applied to your account.

For more information, see the FBA Lost and Damaged Inventory Reimbursement Policy.

Add expiration dates to shipments with perishable products

Are you shipping perishable products that may have a short shelf life? You can now upload expiration dates for these products when creating shipments to Amazon in Seller Central.

In the "Prepare Shipment" step of the workflow, download your pack list. Here, you can enter the expiration date of each perishable ASIN in your shipment, in addition to information about other box contents, and upload the completed pack list.

The expiration dates you provide help Amazon more effectively prepare to receive and handle your shipment. We greatly appreciate your assistance in keeping your inventory information accurate and up to date.

For more information about prepping and shipping products with expiration dates, please see our Date- and Temperature-Sensitive Products help page.

  3. Customer ships the returned item to the domestic address.
  4. The returns provider consolidates the items that your customers return.

From the forums: Which fulfillment center has my inventory?

Below is a real question from an FBA seller and the response it received in the Fulfillment by Amazon Seller Forums (sign-in required).

Q: I know some inventory was moved between warehouses. How can I tell which warehouses I currently have inventory at? Is there a report I can run?

A: An excellent and straightforward report for viewing warehouse transfers of your inventory units is our Inventory Event Detail report in Seller Central (sign-in required). This report can be found in Fulfillment Reports. Select "Show more" under Inventory to find the Inventory Event Detail report.

This report shows history of inventory events (such as receipts, shipments, and adjustments) by SKU and fulfillment center, so you can get an idea of where units are stored.

Discuss selling on Amazon and other Amazon services with fellow sellers in the Amazon Seller Forums (sign-in required).
