Thanks for the report, BTW. CLLv1.1 Assuming that there are at least some changes in pagination, how is the currency and accuracy of the index being maintained? Or are you dispensing with the index in a proposed POD? What is the likely page-count, and does our POD producer do good quality paperbacks in that size? (I'm assuming that hard-bound POD isn't offered, but would welcome correction). What would be the likely cost? All of these are factors in my opinion on a POD product. I'm amenable, but still favor selling red books as long as possible. There will be people who will still want a quality hardbound, even if it is slightly obsolete due to errata corrections, especially if there is an online/downloadable text that they can check. (I suspect that if they are available, some will still want a 1st edition redbook even after CLLv2 is out, though probably a much smaller number, simply because it is a 1st edition, and therefore has some collector value.) If a 1.1 POD is not indexed, that gives even more reason to buy a red book over a POD copy - on the other hand, there is somewhat less need for an index in an online file version, which is searchable (though even there, an index prepared smartly is more effective than a text search, especially for common words, and multi-word concept phrases). Should we consider selling Kindle or other reader-formats, as well? No idea what the demand might be for these. > CLLv2 is the next step, and is basically CLLv1.1 plus whatever I > think is important; in particular xorlo and probably dotside, but > probably not much more than that.
