This is a long shot, but could it be that it tries to resolve your host name and it doens't exist?

Personally, I find that the file manager gentoo (confusion with the name is accidental, no relation to the distro)

I believe so. They're working on many performance improvements on Nautilus although I've never personally experienced them.

  • What is it?
  • re you sure it's every time or just the first time. I think there is a known bug of the splash screen crashing the first time you log in. I've had the same on different distro's and KDE3. But after the first time every thing was ok. If it keeps crashing, consider disabling the splash screen. It's a waste of time anyway
  • The code is summing up some independent terms, and the order should not matter.

There is also an nvidia-clock utility (i think it is called nvclock) which makes it possible to set clock/memory values for your Geforce. It's even in portage: media-video/nvclock so I turned it off and "solved" that issue. NOW after having compiled X and kde, my pc crashes again in similar fashion, when I run xf86config. so I assume there's something wrong with something I've compiled into my kernel incorrectly.. or something I'm missing.
